DC UNIVERSE ONLINE LAUNCHES ON XBOX ONE THIS SPRING

DCUO Celebrates Fifth Anniversary With Special Livestream Preview of Episode 21, Featuring DC’s Legends of Tomorrow-Inspired Content

SAN DIEGO – Jan. 11, 2016 – Daybreak Game Company is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the launch of DC Universe™ Online (DCUO) with the news that the massively multiplayer online superhero game is coming this spring to Xbox One. Additionally, Daybreak announced that cross-play functionality will be available for players on the PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment system and PC the week of Jan. 25, 2016.

Since its release in 2011, DC Universe Online has received continual updates with new storylines and challenges through an evolving series of Episodes. Over 40 legendary DC Comics characters have been added to the Legends roster in the past five years, including The Joker, Bane, Batman, Deathstroke, Supergirl, Superman and Wonder Woman. Players have created more than 35 million heroes and villains since the game was introduced, equipping them with their favorite superpowers, most notably the ability to fly, which accounts for more than half of the in-game player powers in Metropolis and Gotham City.

In 2015, DCUO updated Supergirl’s look to coincide with the CBS television show, launched DC Comics Bombshells content in conjunction with the comic book, celebrated The Flash’s 75th anniversary, released two new power sets – Munitions and Atomic, concluded The League of Assassins and Trigon storylines, and much more. In addition to PC-PS4™ cross-play and DCUO’s launch on the Xbox One, this year players can look forward to Water powers as well as storylines featuring Superman, Halls of Power, Harley Quinn and characters from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Episode 21, coming this February, will feature a new eight-player Operation – “Prison Break” – and two-player Operation – “The First Piece” – inspired by the new Warner Bros. television series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, premiering Jan. 21 on The CW. Additionally, this content will introduce The Atom to DCUO, as well as bring back popular characters like Hawkgirl, Hawkman, Captain Cold and Heat Wave to the game.

I’ve always liked the idea of this game. I picked it up on a whim on PS3 when it launched and really enjoyed it. I’ve since come back and left 3 times, most recently on PS4. I think my issue with the game is I end up playing solo, and that’s just not fun. None of my friends are really too interested in giving it a shot.

Greaterdivinity Yeah, Playstation and Microsoft players together just isn’t going to happen, sadly. And to be honest, bias aside, it’s Microsofts fault. They don’t want their players playing with PS people. One could point to FFXI, but that’s the exception to the rule. The info is out there if anyone wants to look. It’s well documented. The only reason FFXI was an exception is because Microsoft was desperate to get an MMO on the 360. So they said ok to having their players play with PC and PS. It’s also why they waived the X-Box Live Gold requirement.
As the years went on, a lot of MMO’s were being developed or planned for 360. Including FFXIV. The reason everyone moved on is two fold. 1. Microsoft wanted to gate access with Gold ONTOP of whatever sub fee the game developer wanted to change (essentially, forcing players to double dip), 2. They wanted whatever MMO came out on Microsoft systems to be on their own servers. This didn’t sit well with developers if they were aiming for cross-platform. It’s why FFXIV never ended up coming out on MS systems.

breetoplay It’s definitely poor communication out of Daybreak, over at RSTV we also have no choice but to use GamesPress sometimes because of their terrible response time.

teehee2 Plug in a X360 or X1 controller and you’ll see why the UI is the way it is. It was a 100% pure console MMO brought to PC.

JayBezzOfficial The moment CO lost the license to the Marvel IP, they stopped caring. Marvel Online was suppose to be on Xbox as DCUO was on to Playstation

Greaterdivinity lazylex The accounts are separate but you can play together. The other thing that is merged is the name conventions so if someone has the name on PC you can’t use it on PS4 and vice versa, there is huge threads about people losing names but they going to give the name to the people who created first and force others to rename.

Greaterdivinity this means they may remove the feat points that come from completing style sets. Otherwise I have characters to make so I just have like 40SP out the gate lol

Hmm if Champions doesn’t keep up with console expansion I think it’s indication that PWE is no longer investing in the future of Champions Online
