Worlds Adrift gears up for an exciting 2016

The dev team over at Worlds Adrift is emerging from the holiday season on fire to make 2016 a great year for the fantastical title. In the game’s first newsletter of the year, the team said that it’s focusing on refining Worlds Adrift as much as possible as testing continues.

“Following our last playtest, we’ve been focused on fixing and tweaking systems to prevent griefing and exploits, as a few have appeared already, ” the team posted. “From now onwards until launch (and beyond!) this will be a priority for the team: checking what works and what does not, following your feedback immediately, and acting fast to fix any issues.”

Some of the exciting projects that the team is working on include allowing players to craft unique hull shapes, generating procedural islands, whipping up creatures, filling up the skies with weather and enemies, and creating ruins for ancient civilizations to be placed on these islands.

The weather in particular sounds pretty awesome: “Ships being rocked inside tempests, struck by electrical discharges, battered and choked by sand storms… soon in a playtest near you!”

Siphaed Maybe I’m easy to please, but I’m excited just knowing there are cool games on the horizon.

Custom-built ship hulls sounds awesome. I’m very excited about this one. Wish I could get in one of the tests.

I laughed.
You can do almost anything in our sandbox! All ppl did in alpha was build weapons and slaughter each other…maybe we need more rules.

“exiting” would be an Alpha/Beta game actually going full retail launch this year.  All this game’s “excitement” is, is nothing more than just normal development.  JOYS!

i cringed when these guys mentioned the words “open development” but thusfar they’re one of the most open projects i follow despite having an NDA on their player testing… which is something true of other indies that i’m more positive about these days.

some interesting tidbits in this newsletter about anti griefing measures being developed due to player tester behaviour thusfar… kind of an interesting little thing i noted at the end of the update.
