SWTOR is plotting new companions and solo arena fights

Classic.
There’s a lot of stuff coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic in 2016. Not all of it was ready to be discussed during yesterday’s livestream; the archived version is just below, and within the first few minutes viewers are told that the team isn’t ready to talk about new group content being added to the game for players who have seen all of the old content and want something totally new. But players who want new crafting, new storytelling, new companions, and new challenges? Oh, you’re getting exactly what you like.

Chapter X of Knights of the Fallen Empire will bring with it new companions to recruit (including Blizz recruitment) along with an increase to the crafting skill cap up to 550. That means new materials, crafting mission revamps, and new crafting recipes with new appearances. A lengthy forum post detailing the changes is due before the end of the month. The team is also planning on unveiling the new Eternal Championships, a set of challenging solo arena fights, with the launch of Chapter XI. There’s also a new warzone coming on Odessen with a release date sometime in the next six months. You can check out all of the details in the archived stream just below.

Karl_Hungus vicariousfan alexjwillis Tamanous yeah… you still don’t get how insults work.  You can not insult a group of people and say “Oh i’m only saying THESE people are stupid,  unless you identfiy as being stupid then i’m not insulting you”

Aaand… they’ve announced that the Eternal Championship content will be pushed back to 4.2 and the release of Chapter XI.

Karl_Hungus Being angry about story taking precedence in a Bioware game is like being angry that food has food in it. I get that you’re frustrated about the expansion negatively impacting your guild, but the game wasn’t a very good guild game to begin with.

I did stick with it because I stopped caring about real hardcore raiding and yet I was still doing nightmare modes in SWTOR, which are easy by my standards. SWTOR’s best expansion in my book was Shadow of Revan because it included both new story and new raids. They’ve already proven that it can be done. There’s no excuse not to continue that now. If advocating SWTOR return to proper form by providing content for all types of players like they used to makes me a “condescending twat,” then by all means I will embrace that like a badge of honor. It’s certainly better than burying my head in the sand and pretending everything is perfect and above reproach.

alexjwillis Greaterdivinity I think he/she has a point.  The legacy companions are underutilized in KOFTE in terms of story.  I suppose its cool to be able to bring Yuun out on my SI, but do I really know/care about him?  Not really.  Would it be hard to include em more?  Maybe.

Karl_Hungus amkosh If you didn’t stick with, why complain about it?  Let those that enjoy the story do so in peace.

And if you really want change, I would stop being a condescending twat, you might find people might react to your ideas better.

Excuse me for wanting a game I like to be better. Plenty of other people voted with their wallet too and it’s why the game had to go F2P in the first place. I didn’t stick with SWTOR because of the hardcore raiding because Bioware has always failed to meet those expectations. I’m talking about new PvE environments period, not just raiding. And I play on an RP server and there are tons of people casually running storymode operations night and day via the group finder. This isn’t about hardcore raiding. This is about a theme park MMO neglecting every other aspect of the game just to deliver a short-lived hour long story each month and the only solo content there is for people like you who seem to love this new direction, is a nauseating Star Fortress grind. If you think one hour of story a month for $15 is a good deal, then man you have just got to meet this Nigerian prince friend of mine.

You’re right. I should just post “u mad bro” memes instead of challenging people on the critical points they make and then claim to be “insulted” instead of having the acumen to prove them wrong with logic and reason.
But see, in actuality, I’m not insulted by such feeble sophomoric attempts to detract from the valid points I’ve raised because I’m not mad. Why should I feel insulted by someone saying I’m mad when I’m not mad? Why should you feel insulted by me calling people hypocrites when they support SWTOR’s business model while bashing Asian MMO’s that do the same thing? Does that apply to you? That is how insults work. Unless you at least partially identify as a “typical apologist fan boy whale.” And judging by nearly every single post I’ve seen from you two on SWTOR articles, I can see why such labels might hit home for you.

Karl_Hungus You know, I have always liked SWTOR for its story, and I don’t care a shit about raids, war zones, etc.  All I want is story.  KOFTE is pretty decent.  Its not the best BW story, but its not close to the worst.  If you don’t like it, then don’t play.  Don’t sub.  Vote with your wallet.  Bitching about it does you abs no help.

Go play Wildstar, I hear it has awesome hard core raiding.
