ARK: Survival Evolved plans to bring online more than 100 new Xbox One servers

Excessive popularity isn’t always a good thing for an online game. ARK: Survival Evolved has been struggling with handling an overabundance of Xbox One players ever since its early access debut last month. Fortunately, the team is preparing to bring over 100 new servers online to handle the population’s needs.

“In less than a week following its December 2015 launch, ARK was downloaded more than 1 million times and Survivors had experienced more than 200,000 real-life days in their struggle to survive against dozens of Dinosaurs, other Survivors, and the elements,” says Studio Wildcard.

ARK also just updated its Xbox One servers to v730.1, which is slightly behind the PC version at this point.

rottenrotny While I do agree to a point I think some folks forget this is a building game besides a survival game and youtube has become my friend for building cool stuff.:)

Also don’t quite understand why having a bigger world would make it less shallow? Have you explore every nook and cranny including the ocean and all the caves? While the dev team has said we will have more Ark’s there are a ton of things to do at this time.

rottenrotny  I agree. Its like Ultima online years ago at peak where after a server has been going for a while, It was “go around all these buildings looking for a few small areas of resources and kiting monsters around them.

Official servers are just endless swaths of forts, dramatically less resources and dinos as well.  They’re a blight.

Thankfully, I’m playing on an unofficial server with a gaming community I’ve been a member of for a couple of years now so its much much more rustic and no worries of griefing either.

alejotm000 Use the menu on top of the page: Community -> Community Overview -> MOP’s Ark server.

Darthbawl Other than some menu/inventory navigation on PC, it works just fine with a controller on PC already. All those radial menus are pretty much made for controller use. Steam Controller helps fill in the gaps on the menus that aren’t currently controller friendly.

The island is too small imo.
It needs to be much larger with more people.
Once you get high level, learn most of the recipes, build a bunch of stuff and tame dinos there’s little to do and you can accomplish all that pretty quickly. It feels shallow at this point and needs a much larger open world and PVE.

Is the Massively OP server still up? If so, how could I join? I just got this and would love to play with this nice community…

How is the play on a controller on console? [I don’t play the game on my PC w/controller so no frame of reference for me]
