Trove extends downtime by 24 hours [Update: It’s back up now!]

The two-day downtime for Trove that was supposed to end today has gotten extended by a full 24 hours as Trion Worlds announced that it needs more time to complete the migration to the new database.

“We wanted to provide you with an update on our progress: right now the data transfer is moving more slowly than we had initially anticipated,” the studio posted. “While the transfer is going well, and we’ve moved a substantial amount of data to the new hardware (fun fact: the number of Trove characters ever made is in the millions.), we are going to need additional time for it to complete and run our internal tests of the new system.”

The game is expected to be back up and running by 9:00 a.m. EST tomorrow.

Update: Trion’s Seraphina Brennan has let us know that the Trove servers are back online now, earlier than expected. Have fun in there!

If you log on in the next couple of days, they give you a free mount – it’s basically a cloud that trails a rainbow behind it.  Free stuff is free though.

My account seems to have come through the move unscathed. As far as I can tell, nothing was lost. And, the little rainbow cloud mount that they gave us is cute. My hunt for the Starlight dragon continues :)

>.> Was it really a surprise that it was going to have extended downtime, even if it was cut shorter than initially projected (in terms of the extension)?  Lol.
