One Shots: The zen of jumping puzzles

Even my most casual acquaintance will always know two things about me: that I have more hair than is healthy for a human male and that I hate jumping puzzles to the core of my being. It’s probably a good thing that there are players like reader Matt, then, otherwise jumping puzzle designers would be out of a job and ostracized from society in less than a week.

“I love it when I find random things hidden in the world,” Matt writes. “I stumbled upon this Aetherblade headquarters and also a jumping puzzle (because I guess Aetherblade troops love to train their ability to jump?) in Gendarran Fields. It was by far the hardest jumping puzzle I had ever done in Guild Wars 2, I even raged logged out after an hour of dying, but I did complete it later that day.”

How many times has this happened to you: You return to the parking garage after a heavy day of shopping, only to realize that you have no idea where your car is, the lights are out, and there’s a mouth-breathing monster lurking in the shadows?

“Might be time to find that exit,” reader Dajhryne submitted from The Secret World.

Speaking of The Secret World, here’s another picture, this one from Ironweakness, who wants to show off his… fashion sense. Sure hope someone else dresses him in real life.

“With the challenge to take a screenshot of some serious in game fashion faux pas I said to myself, ‘Self, you’d be really good at that challenge,’ which may have been an insult but I can never tell for sure with that guy. Regardless of intent, I logged on to The Secret World because I could think of no better game for creating some truly terrible outfits and I was not disappointed.

“Here was my best attempt at falling on the sword of bad fashion choices. Leg warmers, hot pants, and a modest polka dotted blouse topped off with a Venetian mask and a top hat — perfect for the perky, quirky tourist in this foreboding Egyptian landscape.”

I don’t even know what this is about — I’m not far enough in Final Fantasy XIV to have gotten my chocobo — but reader Jon said that this has to do with training his giant chicken. Training for what? Perhaps to take on the Cobra Kai at the All Valley Karate Championships. I would like to see that training montage!

This week’s It Came from the Comments! winner was pretty much a no-brainer, as I couldn’t resist sharing this luscious screenshot from Elder Scrolls Online.

“I’m really having fun with the questing in ESO,” reader TBPlayer2112 posted. “I wouldn’t say I’m a Elder Scrolls ‘super fan’ but I’ve loved the series since I first played Morrowind way back on the first Xbox, since my PC at the time was a toaster. Snagged this pic yesterday.”

Your screenshot challenge today is to send in or post pictures from MMO cutscenes or cinematics. I find that I take a lot of shots during these, so I’m wagering that some of you do as well. What are your favorites?

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
