Destiny is deploying a new PvP matchmaking setting on Wednesday

I mean, it worked okay.

Losing a PvP match because you weren’t skilled enough or geared enough to beat your opponent is unpleasant on its own. Losing a PvP match because your connection wasn’t up to par is a special sort of frustrating. That’s why Destiny is deploying a new PvP matchmaking setting on Wednesday — effectively rolling back matchmaking changes it implemented last December — to take connection speed more thoroughly into account when matching up players for the newest Iron Banner event.

The Iron Banner Rift goes live today, but the new matchmaking goes live tomorrow specifically so that the team at Bungie will have two sets of data to compare. This does not ignore concerns of matching players against similarly skilled competitors; it just means that connection speed will not be ignored in the process. If you can’t wait to get your PvP on, you’ll be able to see how well the changes hold up tomorrow.
