Get ready for The Division’s weekend closed beta test

With little more than a month to go before its alleged March 8th release date, The Division needs to get some serious testing under its belt. As part of this effort, Ubisoft is launching a much-ballyhooed closed beta test this weekend, with Xbox One players starting tomorrow at 4:00 a.m. EST, followed by PC and PlayStation 4 gamers at 7:00 a.m. EST on the 29th. The game can be preloaded so that people can jump in right from the start and get the most out of the test before its end on the 31st.

A few things that you need to know for The Division’s CBT: It will require a hefty amount of hard drive space, it’s already plagued by several documented bugs, it will not be covered by an NDA, and you’ll need to sign up for Ubisoft’s Uplay service to access it on any platform. It would be wise to check out the system requirements against your machine as well.

There’s even a LFG service that’s being put together between VG247 and The100.io to group players up quickly and appropriately, if you are looking for some buddies to watch your back.

It’s certainly not ye olde open zone MMO.  Playing in the dark zone is very much an MMO though.  At least compared to the large amount of lobby MMO’s that now exist.

Not sure why MMO blogs still cover this game.  It’s not really an MMO.

Skyewauker yeps So if you buy a product from a store, take it home, try it out, and its not what you expected, so you take it back and get a refund, you are a thief?

The world you live in… sheesh.

Skyewauker DugFromTheEarth But assuming the game was good, he wouldn’t refund it – I’m not sure this argument holds water

In game LFG is more like dungeon finder on WoW. It’s not bad. The100 is for people who don’t have friends to party up with and play. Like me when I play destiny and the division.

dorn2 Skyewauker mmonerd I never agreed with him.  He is indeed parroting.  Go to the division reddit.  Just search sponge.  Kids aren’t using “bullet sponge” in how you are using it.  They are using it to cry that the game isn’t more like BF4 with its TTK.  They are made because its an RPGS.  So they use bullet sponge as a slight towards the game.

yeps Skyewauker The alternative is invite only, which is how everything, but closed beta used to be.  Putting it in pledges / donations / early access packs is a way to get what you want while they get help funding the game. They are giving you a method of getting in.  Would you rather them go back to sheer luck getting in and if you don’t, having to pay 100s and 100s of dollars on a site like epicNPC?  Beta hasn’t ever really been “open” and free. Closed Betas have always been closed betas.  That’s the same with alphas.
It really doesn’t matter if you call it a trick or whatever you want to call it, its steal stealing in my eyes.

You claimed he was parroting dumb shit then immediately agreed with him? What?  Bullet Sponge specifically means you have to aim extremely well to get through the health pool.  It’s a different play style that some people don’t like.

If they would stop those ridiculous closed paid beta, there wont be this problem. I remember a time when alpha/beta was open and free and there was a real goal for them, not only those “hype creator” tool as we see now.
Ppl are right to use all those tricks.
