The Stream Team: Summoning more adventure in Blade & Soul

6

Consensus seems to be that Blade & Soul gets better further in when you get more skills, so MassivelyOP’s MJ is back in to be sure she gives the game a fair shake. Or in the case of her feline familiar — a fair wag. The Summoner hasn’t gotten very far in levels, so there is much more to do and many more skills to learn. Besides, MJ’s quite keen on avenging her master’s murder. Tune in live at 8:00 p.m. for more adventures with the infamous TestSubject and her clawed companion, Sleepyhead.

What: Blade & Soul
Who: MJ Guthrie
When: 8:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016

The show is over now; unfortunately, due to technical difficulties the video cannot be embedded. Don’t forget to check out past streams and playlists posted to our videos collection!

The story in this game is just so, so bad. The ‘translation’ is even worse. I wish instead of butchering the story even further they had spent some quality time on polishing.
And they force that furry race into your face 24/7. Ugh.

The P2W factor is not present here. Well, I guess you could argue it in some cases. For example, you get a weapon and you upgrade it as you level. Often you need a dungeon drop to do so. If you run the dungeon you get a box that could contain the drop. If you open it you have an equal chance of it dropping as any other equivalent weapon for other classes. You can buy a key in the cash shop to guarantee  it is you class drop. So it does allow you to skip the RNG.

You can also buy some of the uncommon or daily drop crafting materials from the cash shop. Again, available in game, just saving some time and RNG frustration. Then there is the usual inventory expansion stuff.

Nothing overtly P2W but it depends on your definition of the term. Unlike certain other P2W games this one could comfortably be played as a non-premium member.

MetaDune That doesn’t stop someone 20 levels higher then you from kicking your teeth in while try to farm tokens.

Stats are wholly independent of costumes in B&S. (You just need to have *some* article of clothing equipped – I.e. You can run around without any costume but you’re penalised for it – Which avoids characters running around in their underwear).
Not P2W, you can get everything for free but like any F2P game, there are some restrictions. E.g. Without subscribing, the wardrobe storage function isn’t available.
Great fun in PvP – especially 1:1 where stats are equalised so it becomes more about skill/timing and reacting to visual cues in combat.
Try it, F2P do your only investment is time. Hope you enjoy!

A lot of reviews says this game is not pay2win and is competitive pvp, is this real? for example cash shop costumes give any kind of bonus or stats like in Black Desert? I want to find a real pvp out of cash players.
