Firefall vows to tackle more Razor’s Edge bugs

11

Firefall’s had a rough couple of months, first with Christmastime budget and reorganization problems and then with the rocky launch of its Razor’s Edge patch. This week, Red 5 Studios says its “priority right now is Update 1.6 bugs,” and it vows “more patches as needed” to address item migration issues:

We are still working at getting the missing modules and other items addressed so they can be seen and salvaged. We performed some work yesterday that should have fixed the problem where Pilot’s XP Packs (converted from Pilot Tokens) should now be appearing in player inventories. Interestingly enough, when we kicked that tire, we also received some reports from players that some missing weapons/abilities appeared. We’re still looking into this to ensure that people have the items they had previously. Note: The XP Packs still cannot be used at maximum level, which is a bug and will be fixed in today’s patch. We’ll cover that a little more later on in this post.

The missing modules appear to be the ones that we had unslotted from your equipment. We’re looking into what kind of state that may have put them in. We can see that you actually have the modules from that process, it’s just a matter of figuring out what’s causing them to not be recognized as the appropriate item type so that they can be displayed in inventory. Missing items is the top priority for our WebDev team right now.

There’s a lengthy list of bug fixes in 1.6.1934; check ’em out on the official site.

The new campaign has me enjoying Firefall once again. Definitely very buggy still but so far I have found work arounds whenever I got stuck.

Might be too little, too late. The folks I know who played Firefall have oretty much officially abandoned it now.

So… what’s Warframe like?

I’ve played Firefall pretty regularly since early beta.  Watching the game evolve over the years, I definitely get the impression that Red5 is a fairly small development team with a very big game on their hands.  It can be frustrating sometimes to watch the game off in a radical new direction, with all that came before tossed to the side just when everything finally seemed to be coming together.
But by and large the changes that have been made over the years have been improvements.  And while it’s frustrating to have to suffer through yet another fumbled launch, the devs do pay attention.  The really serious bugs do get addressed quickly.  Red5 also pays attention to player feedback to a degree I don’t think I’ve seen in any other MMO I’ve played.  A huge number of improvements I’ve seen implemented over the years began as player suggestions.  Many of the improvements included in this latest update are a perfect example of player feedback in action.
I really do hope that with this latest update Firefall has finally found its sense of direction, and that it will manage to survive.  For all its faults it really is a fun game, and I’d hate to see it shutdown.

Do they also vow to not fire everyone around Christmas and claim it was a media misunderstanding, they actually fired everyone months prior?

I’m really liking this update. It drives me nuts all the stuff this games been through. It really could be an amazing fun game. Last night got into a open world event to save a tower outpost from an invasion with about 20 other players and it was so dam much fun.

Someone should write about about this studio and its roller-coaster ride of emotion.
And Yes, FireFall is a GOOD game.

I just picked this one up just before the new patch, and once the patch was over, started a new character.  I gotta say, I’m enjoying the game quite a bit.
