Funcom has just announced that one of the Conan games it’s working on is Conan Exiles, a multiplayer, open-world survival game.
‘CONAN EXILES’ is first and foremost a multiplayer game that can be enjoyed on both private and public servers, but it will also feature a single-player mode.
You are an exile, one of thousands cast out to fend for themselves in a barbaric wasteland swept in sandstorms and besieged by enemies on every side. Grow crops or hunt animals for food. Harvest resources to build weapons and tools. Build a shelter to survive. Ride across a vast world and explore alone, or band together with other players to build entire settlements and fortified strongholds. Unleash your fury in savage, fast-paced combat and execute bloody and bone-crushing attacks that will see heads rolling and limbs flying. Fight other players to dominate the exiled lands, and even call upon the wrath of the heavens to aid you by sacrificing enemy players on the alters of the gods.
Back in November, Funcom told gamers that it was planning to announce three new games in 2016. The first of them was revealed to be a Conan-themed game in December, and now here it is. Age of Conan players needn’t worry; Funcom has said it is likewise committed to the existing MMORPG in the franchise.
Conan Exiles will hit early access for PC this summer; expect the full launch on PC and console after that. Check out the renders and new cinematic video below.

Yeah, cause when I think of Conan I think of survival and not sword-and-sorcery adventures.
What’s next, are they going to build an Angry Birds clone with the conan engine?
looks awesome
Don’t bet the farm, Funcom.
Estranged Bingo! Man, I was thinking yesterday on some of the comments sections just how negative everyone has been. Very nice change of pace to see some people just enjoying the prospect of a new game.
I also hope that Funcom brings in some cash on this one. Would like to see the company succeed, since they have tended to set trends when it comes to innovative content or taking chances on non-run of the mill games.
Jack Pipsam Yes and no (as far as survival being bloated). ARK, to me, is the elephant in the room, and while dinosaurs are cool and all, I don’t mind another take on the survival genre. In fact, I’m more interested in something like this than I would be for ARK, though I did enjoy ARK more than I expected to.
Lhumierre MethuselahShax Haha true!
MethuselahShax re-skinned Rust
So yeah the whole survival thing has been done before. It has become it’s own genre. Nothing wrong with that as long as survival games can set themselves apart within their genre. The Conan setting seems like the perfect setting for this style of game if it can bring enough unique elements to make it more than a re-skinned Ark.
So Ark, with a Conan skin? Not that I’m complaining. I enjoyed Ark. Look forward to seeing what direction it takes.
