This didn't work out all right.
Were you too busy gaming this week to pay attention to MMO news? Get caught up every Sunday evening with Massively Overpowered’s Week in Review!

After months of struggle with HeroEngine drama, Above & Beyond finally announced this weekend that it wasn’t giving up on indie sandbox The Repopulation: In fact, it is undertaking a massive port of the entire game to Unreal Engine, which should get the game out from under the heel of HeroEngine and allow some improvements to boot. In the shorter term, the studio will be pushing out smaller-scale, non-MMO survival sandbox version of the game called Fragmented to Repopulation owners for free, which should help tide everyone over until the port is complete.

Read on for the very best of this week’s MMO news and opinions.

Alexious SallyBowls1 Oh I agree SallyBowls. I was unclear on the what you were saying above. I am part of the Landmark project and while frustratingly slow I am lead to believe that our efforts haver gone a long way to testing features for EQN. No reason why it shouldnt be the case with Fragmented/ Repop

Kudos to Above and Beyond and the Repop team.  They took Idea Fab’s sour lemons and made them drink their own lemonade.

They have adopted the life is feudal strategy. Build a quick survival game in Unreal, develop the systems, features and functions for the MMO. Buyers of the survival edition get a free character on the MMO for basically kickstarting the game. I guess its sort of like some sort of early access hybrid kickstart.

SallyBowls1 Actually, this will be immensely better for The Repopulation in the long term. Sure, it’s a delay, but it will allow them to build a much better game in UE4.

Most likely doing a comparison circumstances.
Landmark is a standalone game in relation to EQ:N sold separately (although said to be F2P sometime whenever it launches at the first of never?).   Repop  is launching Fragmented as a standalone game in relation to the main.

SallyBowls1 What does The Repop have to do with Landmark or EQN?

My take is The Repop announced EQN first and now is announcing Landmark.

Best wishes to the Repop going through some very tough times from external factors!
