I have a question, I know this is Monday morning quarterbacking.  But why did the makers of the repopulation didn’t go with the unreal engine in the first place, especially when they said that they can do things with the unreal engine that they couldn’t do with a hero engine.  Maybe there was some drama with that issue that I’m not aware of.  But the unreal engine has been around for quite awhile.  You would think logically, you would go with a proven winner from the get go and then you would not have the drama that they had to endure to this point,  I guess lesson learned.  Again, this is Monday morning quarterbacking and I understand that.
SWTOR news item topic: the reason why their subs are up is simple in my opinion.  It is because they’re offering “Story”, most MMO players want story.  Some MMO developers of forgotten that, putting episode content behind your subscription was the reason why their subs went up.  Hey, resub and we will offer you the latest content.  Act now, and stay subed, we will offer you this new thingy, ’cause you were subed during the time that we offered it.
What does this all mean, it means that “subscriptions are back baby”, it’s the circle of life, kinda sort a, but buy to play is the best.  As a lot of you may know, I have always been not in favor free to play business model because it plays on your of motions and is devious in design.  You can save more money just by subing in the first place and avoid all the drama, restrictions and other BS that the developer throws that you.

Both me and hubby fall into that 15%, we each gave trove 10 bucks because we liked it.  And I’ll buy a skin for my favorite class when I settle on one.  Maybe some inventory space so I can be lazy.  However my hubby finds it silly to purchase any skins simply because you can mod the game and make your character look like whatever you want.  He doesn’t care if other people see him in cool skins, he just wants to look cool for himself, and mods in Trove are free.

Valkyrie Noel Now if a helpful fan would like to take notes while listening to the show and send me those timestamps — or post them here in the comments — then I’ll gladly go into the post and make those changes with proper recognition!

Valkyrie Noel It’s possible but it isn’t time-friendly to me. We record late Monday afternoons, after which I have to mix it quick and get it up for our patreon folks. To timestamp, I’d have to fully listen to the entire show all over again, which would add another hour to the process. It’s either that or make dinner for my family!

And I can’t timestamp while we’re recording, because adding the music and taking out little problem spots changes the time.

I’m sorry, I understand it would be helpful, and I’ll keep it under consideration. But life is a series of trade-offs and that’s not one I’m eager to make right now.

Neo_Wolf Yeah, I really enjoyed the interview portion of the podcast, even though I don’t play MH (It’s on my “to look at when I’m not busy being obsessed with a different game” list).

zoward Enikuo I don’t think they’re really making the change to make money off the classes themselves. They felt pressured to make new classes all the time, which means they were making money off them, they were just making it by proxy  of the class packs that included cosmetics. I think they’ll continue to sell packs, but now they can sell them without the added effort of developing a whole new class. And, they’ll have more time to develop other features to capture money from other demographics.
Short of making content pay-only, grinders and marketplace barons will continue to play for free. I think that’s why Bree pushes so hard for buy-to-play and paid expansions on the podcast. Everyone has to pay for the box to play. Everyone has to pay for the expansion to play.

Enikuo Charging for new classes in Trove may just be closing the barn door after the animals have left.  I’ve unlocked every class thus far, and still haven’t leveled (i.e., experienced) most of them.  I have to agree they need to do something though – the game in its current form is FTW – Free To Win.  I bought some cosmetics just to throw some money at the game, but even there most cosmetics (costumes, mounts, wings) are purchasable in the auction house and it’s pretty easy to game if you’re so inclined.

Siphaed Greaterdivinity Here! In our comments, on Reddit, on social media. I was really blown away by it. Ubisoft has never seemed a company worth that kind of defense force. :D

Siphaed Greaterdivinity I think we should pass a community sanction that bans the use of any “-gate” type language :-)

Valkyrie Noel Same here – I wasn’t really interested in the MH Interview, and it took me 5 minutes of jumping around to find the juicy bits of the show.
