Put down your pitchforks, anti-damage-meters zealots: The first mods for The Division are for graphics, at least if you don’t count the gameplay hacks and cheats.
Reddit user XenthorX has posted a series of shader presets that tweak the game’s visuals with sharpening, saturation, and more. Some of the features added by the shaders existed during testing of the game, he says, but were taken out.
Will Ubisoft object to shaders? That’s not yet known, but it has its hands full with actual cheaters right now. Vids below.

Heh. Â I’ll I see is that gameplay vid clip. Â And… in terms of just the game play, I like it. Â Looks like I’m going to have to win the lottery so I can just play games all day.
KythasWraith are SLI and Crossfire currently unsupported?
Sure, its a mod. I just feel like this often ends up looking like people are playing through an instagram filter. A little post-process AA is nice on some games, but once you start changing the saturation and go too far with sharpening you are changing the look and feel of the game. I am usually in the camp that wants my game to be as the developers intended.
That is one of the advantages of PC gaming though. You can choose to be wrong if that’s what you want! :)
Huxys People often confuse “Mods” and “Addons” as being the same thing.
Mod = Modification.
Addon = something added TO the game that wasnt part of it originally.
In this case, sweetfx is modifying the existing game visuals. Not adding new textures or objects within the world.
I was pretty happy with the games video options provided, to enable me to tweak and tune the game to how I visually liked. Then again, most of my gripes come from games being too blurry or bright due to things like bloom, depth of field, motion blur, etc. Thankfully, this game offers enough options to keep me happy.
I would however, like an FoV slider. there were times of motion sickness while playing due to the more console oriented default FoV settings.
But will they make the game fun? I spent a few hours in the beta and got bored quickly.
hardy83Â Huxys Yeah, by definition, a mod. A WoW-style LUA plugin? No.
MrFester “Some of the features added by the shaders existed during testing of the game, he says, but were taken out.” <3
hardy83Â Huxys I think this might be the best way to describe it.
So is this the stuff UBIsoft removed and players are putting it back in?
