Pantheon’s Cleric is the ultimate team player

There comes a point in any MMO’s early development when the players find themselves at the end of their patience for yet another zone reveal and are begging to hear about classes. Well, that day has come for the Pantheon community, as Visionary Realms has begun to reveal its class line-up.

First up in Pantheon’s “traditional and iconic” class roster is the Cleric. If you’ve played any fantasy MMO at all, then you know what to expect here: an armor-plated healer with a hammer who can also bust out some support abilities. Pantheon’s Cleric also has a giant pillar shield that it can summon, place, and move, denying the enemy a head-on approach.

Brad McQuaid used the Cleric reveals as an opportunity to restate his position on class design in the game: “We want to build on the traditional class and evolve the role in new and exciting ways without changing their core identity. A lot of this will be accomplished by adding flavor and distinctive abilities to those classes. Even with this innovation and evolution, class interdependence is still extremely important. In recent years many MMOs have steered away from those core roles. ”
