Neverwinter refuses to add items back into trade bar store, offers apologies and compensation

A couple of days ago Massively OP reported that Perfect World Entertainment purposefully removed several items from Neverwinter’s Xbox One trade bar store (namely blood rubies, preservation wards, and coalescent wards). These items not only are present in the PC edition’s store but were previously confirmed by the company to be in the Xbox One store as well.

Today PWE posted a statement on the forums apologizing for a communication failure over the issue and explaining the issue in depth. The company said that the last-minute change didn’t allow the chance for a proper heads-up but was necessary in light of players using these purchases as an exploit and to negatively impact the game’s economy.

In light of the player furor over the change, will PWE be adding these items back into the store? In a word, no. The company said it “cannot return the removed items” but will offer players compensation in the form of a pack containing each of these items as well as bonus coalescent wards based on how many trade bars a player has in his or her inventory.

Sazri 7BitBrian Oh so you can buy the items on Xbox but they’re only in the zen ” aka real money” store and the store they removed them from uses some type of in game currency ?

Gee, I wonder why….might it have to do with the fact you can buy those items with zen? Wouldn’t want to eat into a revenue stream now would we. PC players SHOULD be worried. Pretty soon that “exploit” may show up on PC

Sazri McGuffn TheDonDude Oh? Historically I thought there was a major problem because Microsoft had to certify the patches or something.

undeadtexan Really makes me worry about the future of Warframe because of that.

Damonvile It’s a bandaid at best, both because they’re capping the ‘gifts’ at 10 and because it doesn’t address when people would want to buy those removed items in the future.

I use to love Cryptic’s games, but PWE is too shady for me.

McGuffn TheDonDude That’s not an issue. NW Xbox has a patch/maintenance time, once a week, same as PC.

7BitBrian PC players are up in arms, too. They are worried that if PWE gets away with this on Xbox, the same change will come to PC. PWE wants you buying Zen for everything.
