Elite: Dangerous outlines the expanded variety coming to missions

Still at a zero for sold ships that aren't actually usable, though.

Variety is the spice of life, and while it may not be the opposite of boredom, it’s at least within throwing distance. The developers behind Elite: Dangerous know this fact quite well, which is why the game’s next major patch is adding some much-needed variety to missions in the game. That variety starts by making sure that a wider variety of missions is available to players even at lower reputation levels while also removing rank requirements for missions; you can take on more diverse challenges and more serious challenges at the cost of greater risk.

Generated missions will also offer players a clearer picture of why this particular mission was generated and what the results of clearing it will be, thus ensuring that you don’t find yourself wondering why you were assigned a specific task. Inconveniences in clearing certain mission objectives, like listening to alternative offers, are being taken into consideration as well, so players can enjoy more straightforward play once a task is in place. If you hate clearing missions, the changes won’t make you love them, but they should make the process feel less repetitive and more engaging on a whole.
