Bless Online is merging its Korean servers

20

Bless Online is currently attempting to address its somewhat lopsided server situation in Korea, with some shards populated to the point of producing queues and others slightly stagnant. A “server integration” move is planned for the near future to smooth out these imbalances.

With the merge comes the hopes that content such as the 100v100 battleground will be able to field more players without much of a wait. Bless Online also has a new type of realm vs. realm content in the works.

Of course, if you’re not able to play the Korean version right now, most of this might not be of such great interest. Might we interest you in a pair of videos instead? Steparu whipped up one of taming a mammoth and another flying around the world. Both are after the jump.

Hanthos Either way, if your patience is already gone before the game’s even officially released in its native country (still in OBT and lacking two classes, just added its final race), then you clearly had little patience or attention span :P

NCSoft delaying B&S was (A) to not put any more money in Nexon’s pocket than they had to, and (B) not put any extra internal competition on the market for Wildstar & GW2 … Same thing with Trion & Archeage: they bought the rights early & then put it on ice till they had launched Rift’s expansion and shipped out Defiance.
It is all just marketing and marketing is just manipulation …

You do know that South Korea is smaller than … Humm … Florida.
As much as it is a big spender market for MMOs, it also has a population cap.
Why wouldn’t you be looking to expand the potential user base by localizing you game for “western” markets?
Counting NA, Europe, Russia, SA, and Australia / New Zealand as the “Western Market” …. That is only like, maybe, 2/3rds of the entire fucking planet.
But if a game fails in its home nation, that is smaller than every US state west of the Mississippi: fuck it!
Shit can the whole project; throw away the millions you have dumped into it; fire all your developers … Then hang yourself in shame to appease the hand full of readers on massively that hate all Asian inports (and most of the domestic MMOs too).

Ironwu That wasn’t really the case with BDO, and it doesn’t seem to be with Bless either. Both games are from smaller publishers, each of whom expressed the intent to release in the US not long after they announced their games. That doesn’t mean they can simply develop the game in both places at the same time, as that does cost money and essentially means building an entirely separate studio, buying servers in an entirely separate location, etc.
Tree of Savior are another good example, where they were working on (bad) english translations at the same time they were developing the game in Korea. It’s still behind here though.
NCSOFT are the ones who hold blame for delaying B&S, as far as we know, since they licensed the game for US release and then just sat on it for two years without a single update.

Hanthos Faded away before it’s even officially released in Korea? Someone’s got a short attention span :)

More news, never good and never with a NA release date. The blip on the radar has all but faded away.
