Green Man Loaded’s upcoming medieval-themed survival sandbox (plus zombies) The Black Death is on a video roll this week; on offer today is a trailer highlighting the path of the peasant.
“Peasants are cultivators of the land and know how to gather and grow more food and resources,” says the video. “Long days working have made them stronger, allowing them to carry large amounts of weight and perform more physically demanding tasks.” You might even call them the Uncle Owen of Medieval Europe!
The video follows a peasant as he forages in the wilderness, plants crops, and trades with NPCs inside of protected forts. It’s bleak, people.
Green Man announced earlier this week that it was seeking game testers; you can sign up via the official site.

crackfox Welcome to history I believe.
If it wasn’t artificially grey/black colored and potentially a mere gankfest (I don’t care for the historical accuracy of that) .. I’d say “yay, bring it on”. I spent most of my online time in Rift gathering and crafting and fishing, so why not.
McSleaz Once zombie games stop selling I see it going the way of the WWII genre. They get done to death, people get tired of them, they don’t sell as well, they barely get made after that. Kind of a shame in regard to the WWII games, since I miss those.
Why does it have to have to have zombies????
Zombies have been done to death in the last 10 yrs, time to move on from bloody zombies.
This looks like a dream come true for the farmville types
Looks interesting. I signed up. Why not? Time to get my peasant on.
crackfox They make a smockery of being a peasant.
karmamule Serrenity
I know who I’m voting for this year!
This actually seems like it might add an interesting dynamic. There’s really only two classes (it looks like from the video) that are specifically geared towards fighting, so not everyone is going to be (hopefully) able to go full murder hobo.
Or it might just be that you’ll have groups of griefers that recruit and protect groups of what I’ll call “civilian” classes (smiths, peasants, merchants, monks, whatever other classes they’ll add).
You might even get groups of people that decide they want to form an army of peasants for laughs and become an army of literal murder hobos.
cursedseishi I thought it was the lack of beer and TV that was doing it….
