We mentioned earlier today that the second season of Guild Wars 2‘s professional league kicks off today, so it seems apropos that players are also getting a new patch with several structured PvP changes. Today’s patch changes the “points” terminology to “pips” for structured league progression, with a victory or defeat only awarding a one-pip award or loss accordingly. There’s also a new comeback mechanic for teams that win after a losing streak and a smaller number of subdivisions for Amber and Emerald tiers.

The patch also contains a variety of bugfixes and general quality-of-life improvements, slightly tweaking the balance of several skills and adding a Revenant sparring partner to Heart of the Mists. It’s not a massive change to the core of the game, but it should make fighting other players that much faster and more productive overall.
