Daybreak walks a fine line with EverQuest II’s TLE server

A developer update on the status and future of EverQuest II’s time-locked expansion server illuminates some of the difficulties that the team is facing when trying to balance measured progression.

“The honest answer is we are in a very precarious spot,” Daybreak admitted when asked about raid rewards. “The progression of loot on TLE is simply at risk if we keep increasing loot before Kunark. It will cause a chain reaction where if we continue along this path, Velious and expansions after it will have almost no progression.”

Daybreak said it’s going to do its best to keep itemization in check as well as to constantly monitor and adjust combat balance. The studio is also deep into work on the Echoes of Faydwer beta, saying that it and other free content should be available very soon.
