SkySaga’s alpha 7 arrives today with competitive building and selfies

Voxelbox SkySaga has just entered its seventh round of alpha, dubbed the “Settler” update. Of note, the game has been patched with a new game mode called “Build Off,” in which players compete in a race “against the clock and each other to build something awesome.” There’s also new Settler gear, an updated medal system, world adjustments, new NPCs in the City of First Light, new emotes, and a selfie mode.

Signups for the game’s testing phase – a real and actual testing phase! – are ongoing.

We’ve included the trailers below!

Not only is it a true alpha but player comments seem to matter. They have already changed up some things  introduced in Alpha 6 that were not well received. Grand kid still likes it. So, that’s a win for us. Developers do not seem to be over reaching their skill set.

Siphaed asuranknight I am aware the extremely long ones are the early access titles (though this definitely is not only on steam). As said I may be confusing it with another title but I thought I had seen that somewhere.

I’ve played this on and off for a while and it’s really a nice little game. Definitely one to play with your kids.

Open Beta last year? They’ve only been in Alpha just barely over a year (Nov 2014 is when it started).  That is not “extremely long”. Extremely long are some of the Early Access titles on Steam that have been there since 2013 and earlier without much updates in the past 6 months.

Line with more hugs Except Portal Knights is a solo to max 4 player co-op game, so not much of a clone for people who want an MMO. Looks like Portal Knights doesn’t have a whole lot to it yet, either.

Siphaed Appreciate the tip! I still think this one looks super cute.

I could swear they were planning to hit open beta with this game last year and year later and still in alpha. They really seem to be dragging on this but extremely long alpha and beta periods seem to be relatively common these days.

I like what they’re doing, it’s good to have more interesting items and game modes.
And for once, that’s a real alpha, free, constantly updated… and wiped. Haven’t played in a while, it gets boring to replay the early game experience again and again.

I’m VERY worried about the game now however, Portal Knights is pretty much a clone of SkySaga, and came out on Steam yesterday.
Might make it looks like a “clone” when closer to release while it has been in the works for a long time… and it’s maybe time to set a tentative date, it’s been in open alpha for a year now…

The game is coming along so nicely.  Player interaction is a much more cohesive part of the game than the division it was in earlier builds.  This build has also fixed quite a bit of the ‘grind’ introduced in Alpha 5 that slowed Settler types to a snail’s pace with the crazy requirements for certain things.

And I definitely had to leave that part about a true-blue Alpha in the tip, considering the Massively Overthinking about Early Access/paid-to-test games just yesterday.
