Final Fantasy XIV takes a look behind the magic of its sound design
Are you a fan of Final Fantasy XIV? Are you not a fan of Final Fantasy XIV while still feeling a great deal of affection for its soundtrack? Do you just like watching videos about sound design? Good news for all of the above groups: There’s a new video just below from the game’s design team, and it’s all about how the game’s sound design comes together.

While part of what makes the game work is the actual soundtrack, there’s just as much work put into the sound effects and ambient noises that contribute to the game’s ambient atmosphere. If sound isn’t really your thing, though, that’s all right; this is just the first in what is planned as an ongoing series of videos detailing how the game is made behind the scenes. But this video is all about how the game hits your ears.

I can’t watch the video right now, but I love the sounds in FFXIV.  Every little swish, click and tinkle, just like the soundtrack, does an awesome job of waking 30 years of dormant memory of all the previous Final Fantasies I’ve played over the years.  It’s different yet completely familiar and comforting.

An awesome video to put out after all the Powerman 5000 controversy.
I side with Square their song is a lot better.
