If you’re currently a WildStar subscriber, you’re going to be getting a bit more with the price of your subscription. The development team announced on Twitter that subscribers will receive a boost to Omnibit drop rates and weekly caps:

You can see a full breakdown of the game’s benefits for subscribers vs. free players on the store page. Good news for those of you looking to see your Omnibit gains improved thrice over or those waiting for the subscription to be just a bit more appealing before signing up.

This was something i posted on the (10+ page forum thread) about ever since the game went F2P. How many months ago was that?

Yeah… after months of silence and being ignored, I gave up and just unsubbed and started playing for free. This small change isnt going to make me resub at this point.

It’s as much about image as money. NCSoft promotes their company as a premium brand, and having some small little MMO in the Western market scrounge out a barely profitable income reeks of a small time brand like Aeria Games, not a premium brand, and that does affect game sales and stock prices. So Wildstar’s survival in the West is dependent on their performance in the West. Whether we like it or not, that’s how NCSoft runs their business

sray155 i don’t know if it still the case.
this is not the tabula rasa era and now it cost less to keep game running than before.

also gw2 is not big hit but the game still with us (but i think esl is what really keep the game going)
*and i know gw2 more hit than ws atm.

and lets not forget that the best income for nc is from china and not from the western (i’m talking about Lineage)

and now i miss tabula rasa :(

The China launch could be huge, but unfortunately that wouldn’t stop it from still being on the chopping block in the Western market. NCSoft’s corporate image does not include small niche products: their games are big and mainstream, or they’re done; they’re not interested in going after a small but steady audience.

sray155 with you on the dlc part.
i think right now they going to see and depend on the china launch (more than steam launch).

i can’t wait to see a dlc or expansion for this game.
also i liked they make the world-story as co-op on the next update.

all we can do is playing and see what the future bring.
-the same as funcome product :S

BritoBruno i think you wasted some minutes from your life on that player.
let him demanding all day long.

what i think is nice in some of the mmo is that players like him who think the company need to give him extra things are leave the game and not staying :)

so let him think what he want to think and than…he leave the game like any other players who think it.

i don’t think funcom owe me something for paying for dlcs and life and also not think carbin owe me – on the contrary i think when they going to realese such a big update i want it to be b2p like funcome doing with dlc or arena.net with the expansion (even so i left gw2… it’s just not gw1) XD

It’s a decent change that doesn’t negatively impact anyone, which is good to see, but they’ve got a long way to go still, and probably not a lot of time on the clock in which to do it. Realistically, they probably have to triple revenue to get out of the crosshairs , and this alone won’t do it (keep in mind the flip side view of this is that it makes it easier for subs, aka those already most inclined to spend money on your game, to not spend more than their sub fee).
If they can start pushing new (and polished) content out on a regular basis, switching to a DLC style content system (like DCUO) could create real value for subscriptions while also creating a steady stream of revenue from non-subs.

And yet, being a old p2p, and now f2p player, i had to slap a f2player today on their facebook for demanding shit and claiming he “paid the first year, so he already contributed”.
For fucks sake.
