PaulineDemetry It sure is easy to play the liar card when you have absolutely nothing to back it up with.  “simple math and reading the forums”?  LOL, ok.

And your only comment from an account that points to a dead Facebook page.  Where is my “seemslegit” meme?

Only if the game appears on the cover of a EA sports game cover, which it hasn’t:

It should do very well considering the TV coverage and word of mouth.

One of my friends is, as a previous MOP article described, a “harbinger of doom”. Anything that he pre-orders and gets super-hyped for ends up being a colossal flop or disappointment with rare exception. He’s been ranting about this game for a while now since he managed to get into the closed beta. Should I be concerned?

This game is nothing but hype. I cannot believe that even with all the punishment gamers put themselves through, they still fall into the same traps put forth by these game companies time and again.

The PVE part of the game is decent, i will give it that, the PVP portion…..well, its a gankfest of garbage that breaks lore and is in the developers own words, “A social experiment”. A portion of the game that should have united players into choosing sides in relation to lore is nothing but supposed “hand picked” dedicated agents doing what they like to do in real life and that is to be fail.

Ubisoft claims 6.5 million or so for console users in The Division? I will flatly call them liars. Doing simply math and reading the forums, we can see they may have been 6.5 million attempts at logging in with a portion making it into the beta but I do not believe for one second they had 6.5 unique logins, let alone anything near that large in beta. All hype and number manipulation.

You can go over to the toxic Ubisoft forums and there are to voiceful camps, one tiny group of malcontents waving the PVP flag and wanting the rights to “first gank” mechanic left as is, and the majority wanting the lore to remain intact and the rpg elements to mean something in the dark zone, which they do not. The dark zone simply being a FFA PVP zone, regardless of what the peanut gallery would yell and whine about.

Setting aside that the moment i hear ‘get hype’ i instantly become suspect of a products quality- especially in a tom clancy game, in name only it seems, where you grind for stat based loot in a take on real world environments- i dont think i have watched television in like 4 years. Netflx on my computer/laptop kind of made it redundant, sounds so strange and out of time to hear about ‘tv spots’ for videogames.

Can’t talk for the others, but I am serious about this. I like my games plausible, and this is one of the minor issues I may have.

This game mechanic clashes with the game story most of the time, but it differs some from game to game how much it’s something that bothers me. If you’re a BH in SWTOR it’s no issue, you’re a independent contractor. If you’re a Trooper (of an elite squad!), I find it silly that the army does not supply you with gear in some fashion. In TSW you get gear from your faction, but have to buy it from CoV agents, it mitigates the problem some. In AoC you are once again an independent.

In The Division, however, you are pitched as part of an last line organisation. You’re at ground zero, you’re trying to establish a HQ, youre trying to bring order. And the gunnery sergeant tries to make a profit? I’d throw him to the streets if I could.

This is lazy game design for in-game economies.
Lastly, as for taking the other party serious, I can file your argument under the “the other guys do it” or the “it’s like it’s always been” categories, both which are in my top 5 of useless arguments. So not sure if you’re just trying to troll.
