Battle Bards Episode 70: MMO Ambience

9

While loud and brash music might be what often grabs our attention, the astute soundhound will keep an ear out for beautiful low-key pieces that weave through MMORPGs. Today the Battle Bards crew dials it back to look at tracks that exude ambience in all of its forms. From Final Fantasy XIV to Chronicles of Spellborn, interesting and noteworthy ambient tracks were unearthed, dissected, and returned to the soil for future blossoming.

Battle Bards is a bi-weekly podcast that alternates between examining a single MMO’s soundtrack and exploring music tracks revolving around a theme. MOP’s Justin Olivetti co-hosts with bloggers Steff and Syl. The cast is available on iTunes, Stitcher, and Player.FM.

We’ve got Episode 70: MMO Ambience for you after the break!

Coffee, Please I use Podcast Addict on an Android tablet, and just tell it to download whatever’s new in my podcast list.  I listen in the car, and cell coverage is spotty, so having Battle Bards, MassivelyOP, Welcome to Night Vale, etc, downloaded is a must.

CrispyCycil dragonwhimsy  Definitely TSW: that white flag with the griffin on it is the flag of the Council of Venice, one of the NPC factions.

Kanbe Good that I’m not the only one then. I just tossed the RSS into Foobar 2k so that will take care of it.

That’s why I always just download it myself. I tend to have issues with the browser players

Is there some way that we can download the MP3 of these? Not using a website or app, just download the MP3. I’m so terribly frustrated right now with these websites right now. I can’t listen to more than a few minutes before they fail for some reason and I have to re-start the podcast each time.
No idea what’s going on. O_o

dragonwhimsy When zooming into the picture it looks like concept art. I can’t say from which game.

dragonwhimsy I could be entirely wrong, but that looks like it’s The Secret World.  At least, it’s the only game I recall that has a library of knowledge in a ruin that has a very similar architecture to that picture.

I’m curious, what game is that picture from?
