Black Desert attempts to ‘suppress’ gold selling market

Also, more cats in general, please.

“Due to the increased ‘goldseller’ population, we are beginning to put systems in place to suppress their market.”

These words come from the Black Desert Online team, which this morning deployed a patch that includes a couple of measures designed to combat gold selling such as making traded items completely character bound. Servers are currently up:

Daum was also flirting with the idea of increasing the energy cost for using the chat channels, although it’s since backed down on the idea (a message still requires one energy) and says it is monitoring the situation.

Other changes with today’s patch include fixes to mob respawns, an increase in chat channel character limitations, and adding a sound to signify that a player has received a whisper.

Ive been playing BDO and its definitely not a sandbox. Its a single player rpg that you can occasionally watch someone else also play. The community is so thin and sterile. There is nothing in place to ever make you want to help someone else.

MatthewRiddle The lack of player trade killed it for me.  It just seems so arbitrary to not allow resources to be traded but still sold on the marketplace…

BDO dose have lots of elements of sandbox, but it’s more of a solo player sandbox with not much mmo interaction.

I wanted to like B&S but I left the game because of the level of gold and bot spam. Same thing with Arch Age.

There needs to be a way for guild mates to give each other stuff, and a way for people to be able to craft stuff for others in return for silver. These two areas are absolutely vital for a sandbox.

I’ve seen a good number of gold spammers but they’re very easily blockable and Blocking them removes all messages they posted.
Also the increased character limit kind of made the problem more notable as now gold spam messages can take up more of the Channel chat, buuuut in general I stick to my guild chat/whisper tabs anyway so I don’t pay much attention to Channel chat.

melissaheather Blade and Soul was, and probably still is, regularly being manhandled by spammers as well.

arktourosx Shamancard Nothing, this poster just really really really hates BDO with a passion and has to continue expressing such.

I can’t believe the support that no open trade has on the official forums and Reddit. It’s like I’m in the twilight zone.

I completely understand what they are trying to do and I wholeheartedly support any effort to kill RMT, but the lack of a direct trade system really throws a wrench into any kind of group activity. I’ve already read plenty of stories from frustrated guild members who want to collaborate on projects but can’t since they can’t trade resources.
