Black Desert players are up in arms over the P2W Ghillie Suit

There’s some controversy in the Black Desert community about an item that you can buy offering a serious advantage, and yes, it’s the Ghillie Suit. You knew it was going to be the Ghillie Suit. “No, I didn’t know that,” you say. “What the heck is the Ghillie Suit?”

The Ghillie suit is one of the many costumes available in Black Desert‘s cash shop that can alter your character’s appearance. It also has another advantage, allowing players who wear it to hide their nameplates. A relatively small advantage in a PvP situation, but still an advantage.

A poster on Reddit has claimed that this completely ruined the game for him, as he is red-green colorblind, and without the additional contrast from a character’s nameplate, it’s impossible to see someone stand out from the background while moving around. There’s no official word on the situation from the developer, but players are upset that a vanity item is providing a sizable in-game advantage to those who purchase it — upset enough to lodge 1500+ posts as of this writing, pushing the post to the front page of Reddit.

I agree it’s not pay to win at all. God, that term is so overused. Keep the suit and target those who wear them. They are sitting ducks.

N3rdygam3r666 “Seriously, you’re not that clever.”
“Western audiences would also ‘man up'”
“low mark in journalism”
“I don’t really PvP (yet) [but I feel entitled to comment on it]”
“rather than L2P”
Seriously, you’re not that clever.

KevinCheng1 Just because you cannot fight under water doesn’t mean swim speed doesn’t contribute in PvP.  If you can’t see how, then you’re doing it wrong.

Smiggins Give it a few months.   People white knighted ArcheAge in the beginning as well.  99% of them will never admit to it today after seeing how ridiculous the wallet warriors truly became thanks to the cash shop.  BDO isn’t quite there yet, but the operating word there is “yet”.

dragonherderx “And if you are colorblind just be cautious of someone wearing the suit?”
Reading comprehension isn’t your thing is it?

This alone in my view doesn’t make the game pay to win , I am enjoying it but the moment it becomes too pay to win by my definition then I will simply stop playing it and move onto something else .

If Daum pull too much sh#t and get too greedy all it will do is drive people away ( you would think gaming companies would have worked that out by now but nope they make the same mistakes over and over again )

I imagine I will get 6 months out of it before it all goes to hell .

so with number 3 people wearing it have an advantage over people who don’t. That is why people are angry.

It’s far easier to V away in to oblivion and blend in with other ghillies, it’s far harder to keep track of a ghillie wearer in green terrain, etc etc etc.

No matter what way you paint it, owning the ghillie gives you an advantage over people who do not own it, and it is a cash shop exclusive item, thus there is an element of pay to win

arktourosx N3rdygam3r666 You do need to learn to play. Be cautious watch for the glow around people you are at war with and learn to play properly. If you saw someone come up on you in an OWPVP game that had 0 nameplates you’d be cautious. If you see someone in the suit be cautious of them? If you are at war look for the red glow around the target… It does nothing but hide the name plate which i can do by freaking crouching or even laying on the ground quick hopping up and following behind you to smack you in the back if i really wanted… Once they attack their health bar shows up and it’s easy to tell..
