Albion Online dev vlog on dungeons, armor, and the swamp biome

Albion Online’s devs have broadcast a brand-new develop vlog shot inside their new studio, appropriately bedecked with faux medieval stone and stained glass.

Game Director Robin Henkys, Creative Director Jörg Friedrich and Game Designer Michael Schwahn discuss heretic dungeons, PC graphics improvements, a new boss, the armor system rework, crafter disadvantages, new spells, and the swamp biome. There’s even a little plug for the game’s novel.

Does anybody have any idea yet when this is coming out of beta and releasing?

I’d like to try it out, but I have neither the time nor the energy to be a proper beta-tester at this time.

I was a bit worried when I saw “crafter disadvantages” in the article, but I’m glad that it’s nothing serious after watching the video.
Basically, it’s just related to the armor rework. Essentially, the system they had with light/medium/heavy cloth/leather/plate was a bit too confusing for players, and so they scaled it back down to cloth being light, leather being medium, and plate being heavy, but added sub-types of armor to compensate.
How this relates to crafters, is that if you were a cloth crafter, you can no longer make medium or heavy armors, since cloth is now restricted to being only light. Completely understandable and makes sense in light of the change, so no reason for armor crafters to worry.
Again, the “crafter disadvantage” mentioned above only applies if you were an armor crafter of some kind.
