Earthrise: First Impact rears up on Steam Greenlight

Hands up if anyone here remembers Earthrise. The post-apocalyptic MMO had a disappointing run from 2011 to 2012, ending with its closing by Masthead Studios due to poor reviews and not living up to its expectations.

We’ve known for some time that the game was picked up for a possible reboot, although the timetable on when this would happen has been fuzzy. Happily, it appears that progress is being made as Earthrise: First Impact popped up on Steam Greenlight.

Earthrise is being handled by SilentFuture Games, a developer out of Germany. According to a notice posted today on Facebook, fans have a reason to hope for the game’s revival: “As some might have noticed, we got Earthrise a spot on Steam. We are actually working on many changes and additions which includes the server. This might cause some outtakes. We are sorry that we couldn’t write much news, but we are still working on it.”

rioinsignia ShadowVasTerra i loved hellgate and i want it to return as sequel but it look like it not going to happens.

what they done is just released the game again and never updated it – but they downgrade the graphics…

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
1, bought the lifetime (still not regret it)

2. return to the game after the f2p change – the good side is they add the cancelled Tokyo update from the original.

hellgate was a unique game with future-demonic-apocalypse felling and not forget the game include voice over and cinematic (on those time only gw1 done that) and i think it was the first mmorpg game that made action combat.

yes the game was in bugs party but it not mean we didn’t got a great game.
-also the android game…worst copy ever of my beloved “The House of the Dead” game.

I remember being excited by this game years ago. Didn’t know it was still around.

This game was the first time I ran into the “spiritual successor of SWG” trope – while SWG was still running lol.

This looks like the same company that was working on the “reboot” like 2-3 years ago for like 6 months before going dark.
Yeah, I’ve no hope for this game, sadly : /

Aye, I definitely remember the game… Up until they kicked out all the ‘non-backers’ right before launch, along with wiping the forums…
One of the biggest failings the game had was, if memory serves, a decidedly major lack of ‘skill’ required in a skill-based game, instead playing the one or two broken weapons with high tier gear that drastically increased in stats as they went up each tier.

Oh that’s right, same devs who were making that Fallout MMO.
Never played this, but I am sure those who did enjoy it should hopefully be happy with the new people taking over. Always interesting when a game gets a second chance at life.

At least it isn’t Hellgate this time.
