Tune in live at 2:00 p.m. to see the changes and to talk all things Landmark — assuming the servers remain stable. (You might even get a goody code for stopping by!)

What: Landmark
Who: MJ Guthrie
When: 2:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 24th, 2016

Denice J Cook karmamule libertylion7 H1Z1 has been doing quite well. A long-term MMO future though? Possibly not.

Pepperzine Because people want a building game that doesn’t have minecraft style graphics? This game had merit beyond it’s EverQuest Next origins.

It sucks that EverQuest Next got cancelled. But that has NOTHING to do with this game or whether it should stand and fall on it’s own.

MJ Guthrie Pepperzine  While I loved this game (and still do) in all fairness there was always the thought in the back of my mind as I played: “what will it be like when there are the trappings of a full-blown AAA MMO wrapped around all this?”.

Lord Zorvan It’s not dead yet.  They have to release it to avoid getting sued.  THEN it’ll be dead and cancelled before the end of the year.

SOE was under water financially and had been bleeding millions for years, quite sadly.  You can’t blame Sony, Japan (who were in their own hot mess financially) for bailing.  Luckily, they at least sold SOE to Russian Investment Firm Columbus Nova (who also bought and resurrected Rock Band, for whatever that was worth– probably not much) instead of shuttering the EQ franchise forever.  Apparently, Sony, Japan wanted whatever return on their investment they could get.
Daybreak = SOE – 40% of their dev team which got cut when Columbus Nova took over.

I have to admit, I don’t see a long-term future left for Daybreak, though.  I sure hope I am proven wrong.

MJ Guthrie Lord Zorvan Same. It’s still a very detailed and involved builder.

Pepperzine As far as I have seen, this is the best of the voxel builders. Some of the stuff the builders have made are awe-inspiring.

MJ Guthrie Pepperzine I loved the building, but I confess the biggest part of my enjoyment was thinking, “one day I shall build my house in EQN just like this…”   And that was honestly the greater part of the appeal.. imagining my friends / guildmates joining me there for tea, etc.
