Final Fantasy XIV expands chocobo racing and the anima weapon questline

Flight of the Matrimony.
Are you a big fan of chocobo racing in Final Fantasy XIV? Then you’ll be very happy to know that the game’s latest patch is giving you a new way to test your jockeying skills against specialized and talented opponents. The new races are straight battles against another racer, and winning awards a whole heap of MGP for the devoted jockey. There are also bigger rewards from much of the Gold Saucer, including clearing Gold Saucer objectives in the Challenge Log.

Of course, if you’d prefer to go out any kill things, you can do that with a little more efficiency now as well; the anima weapon questline has been expanded once again, offering players the opportunity to pick up a level 230 weapon through the quest series once you’ve completed the previous steps. There are also balance adjustments for PvP, quality of life improvements, and the usual array of bug fixes. Whatever you prefer to do within the game, it’s the perfect day to head off to the races.

Higgens bakkahentai2600 Dope_Danny Krem The games much more story oriented so it takes a bit more time. It’s not like WoW where I leveled an alt yesterday from 80-85 in Hyjal alone.

Higgens You are soooo right man! It’s like, everybody was born with a goddamn MMO in their hands, how can they not know how to play the genre? I mean, teach new people? LOL! There are now new people to MMOs…like ever!

Higgens bakkahentai2600 Dope_Danny Krem  It’s a story though. You aren’t just running, you are being told a story in a game that actually takes its story seriously.

Higgens bakkahentai2600  The help text box that shows up tells you quite clearly the difference between main quest scenario icons and side quest scenario icons.

bakkahentai2600 Higgens The game presents none of that. Its not my job to google “fastest way to get through FF14s opening”, its up to the game to lead me as a new player to the fun.

When I pick up a new game, its the games job to engage me from the word go.

I am not knocking the game, people love it so it works for them, it just doesnt work for me.

bakkahentai2600 Higgens Dope_Danny Krem Runing for a couple min to read a couple text boxes to run for another min or 2 to read some more text, for about an hour, is not fun.

I know some people love the game and thats great, I wonder how many people uninstalled it before lvl 5 because it opens in a very boring fashion.

Higgens Dope_Danny Krem  That depends on your definition of fun doesn’t it? To me the storyline is the funnest part of the game.

Dope_Danny Krem Higgens I confused it with a game that would be fun at the start, thats all.

I read the first part of the headline as, “Final Fantasy XIV Expands Chocobo Raging …”

I think that’s my subconscious telling me to stop reading posts related to the current Archeage article on Massively! :-)

Higgens  Um, you do know that all you actually have to do is get through the opening sequence (now skippable), get sent to the head of the Adventurer’s Guild, attune to the big Aetheryte, sign up for your guild (and do your guild quest of kill 3 of 3 different animals if your smart), and talk to a guy at the markets. After that you get sent off to a job outside of a city that makes you gear up a bit (no big deal by that point) and get sent off to a boss battle. Really not that much.
