Project Genom’s video proves you’ve been running wrong in video games your whole life

Has Project Genom slipped off your radar? A new report from the team about the game’s progress as it hurdles toward early access in May might correct that. It sounds as though the sci-fi MMO has made significant progress, with updated locations, a new character controller, and an improved gear UI. Next up on the docket is a close combat system, more pets, more mounts, and more everything.

“Over the past three months more than a hundred new quests and interactive events have been created, most of which have already been realized,” the team said. “We have also redesigned the majority of the existing quests that now have up to four ways of fulfilling tasks and many new game mechanics. To complete the four chapters of the game storyline you will have to spend at least 40 hours.”

The animation still have silly Asian trend with bend over running style.
Look at 100 meter sprint videos on youtube, sprint runners run upright not bend over.

It’s reminds me of firefall’s art style ( a good thing imo ) and looks a lot better than the last video of the game I watched last year.

With FF being all but dead to me, a new tps mmo like this sounds interesting.

Good animation, yes.  Much props for that.
I see they are going with oversized weapons though, which I don’t really like in a more immersive game like this seems to be.  I mean, seriously, his pistol is the size of his entire upper arm.

Not bad.  I spent some time double-clicking the start-stop to see if I could spot slipping (the down foot moving forward a significant distance in order to increase run speed, a very common trick in games) and I couldn’t find any.  That’s good.  Now slow it down about 30% more, tie it to loaded weight and a fatigue bar and I’ll be intrigued.  Every MMO seems to have become a Monty Haul campaign catering to hyperactive 12 year olds.

Looks really nice.
Nicely animated, a bit of inertia in the movements, cool models and a clean-but-not-too-shiny environment…
But they promise a lot of things. Quests with different multiple clear states, world events, resource management, skill system with very visible synths/mutant modifications, large scale crafting allowing even space exploration? Holy hell is that ambitious.

Anyone knows how it really plays like right now? Seems to be a mix of Firefall, The Repopulation and…  a simpler Space Enginners&the like?
