Overwatch walks players through the addition of competitive play

All the new mistakes.

Are you ready to compete against other Overwatch players to see who is truly the best person playing the game? If you answered in the negative, well, this post is probably not going to change your mind. But you might still be happy with the way that the game is handling its competitive side, as detailed extensively in a new video about the most recent test patch introducing competitive play.

Competitive play is locked until players reach level 25 to ensure that you have some time and space to get decent at the game before jumping into the deep end while also allowing players who live for the competition to get in reasonably quickly. It’s also set up to account for varying queue sizes organically, allowing you to enter competitive matches with as many or as few friends as you’d like. Check out the full walkthrough of this first iteration in the video below.

MrEllis No, its more akin to TF2. Battleborn will have a pve mode though.

Does this game have PvE? Seems weird all the “good guys” are killing each other if not.

I already had a very low opinion of this sham of a “beta” (read: free marketing period), but letting people have months of competitive ranked play before the game even launches makes it even worse. What can be gained from this that couldn’t already be done through the current in-game queue system, other than letting people hone their skills against other good players even further before everyone else gets to play?

Ranking system sounds great for competetive play, will buy the game now.

Leilonii It’s a fantastic character based FPS. If you enjoy shooters at all it’s worth your time. (Well, not realistic shooters, but arcade-y shooters.)

Leilonii Yeah this one is the fps shooter. Heroes of the Storm is the Blizzard MOBA and you’re right – it’s had competitive play pretty much since day 1.

I’m confused, I thought this game was a MOBA and that players had been doing competitive MOBA matches from day 1? What is this then?
