When is an MMO wipe a good thing? When it precedes a beta launch, that’s when. This week, Tree of Life studio OddOneGames announced that it will enter its official open beta phase as of April 18th. The game has been in early access alpha since late spring of last year with a base purchase price of $19.99.

OddOneGames says that the sandbox maps are due for a clean start. The game is also getting new character models, guild halls, and a new item store.

There’s a pair of fresh trailers, too, which we’ve included below.

EBreezy They removed the aggressiveness from bears and the like, I think.  Not sure about the undead that pop out at night…  But now the main threat (outside of griefers) is the monster settlements that send raid parties to attack players, but so far only the Mermen faction has such a thing.
As for the fish, those were raw fish that weren’t cut up/cooked yet, I think.  Not sure why anyone would just dump raw fish in a fenced area.

Bounty hunting system? Heh, that’s a joke. You know what happens when you have a bounty hunting system like this? It doesn’t deters griefing, it promotes it. “Oh, look, I have a really high bounty. Better go get my alt to kill me and collect the reward. LOL.”

Doesn’t happen unless you managed to piss someone off, it takes way too long and being red is way too detrimental for anything like that to be commonplace

This is one of those games that seems like it should be a ton of fun. I only played during the early release period and I couldn’t even enjoy myself with the constant ‘mob griefing’. It wasn’t even the players. I would log in and have to repair my entire base because the mobs would destroy it all while I was offline.

I’ve seen a ton of greifers on Twitch.   Luckily for me, I never ran into any griefers, but  I couldn’t play too much. And when I did I was repairing my freaking walls.

Also, did no one else notice that there were fenced in fish just flopping around on the ground? What’s up with that?

arktourosx ohforfs The thing with the repair sounds great. Much better and more natural than a “challenge window” or “challenge stone”.
I was just thinking about this the other day in consideration of DarkFall, and reached a similar solution: that your holding should always be vulnerable 24/7, but that each wall set can only be 25% destroyed within a 24-hour period. That means you can repair it in your online time, but if your enemy is numerous and persistent, they can destroy more than you can handle to repair over time.
