Gloria Victis patch balances weapons and adds armor penetration

Where is something I can hit with a pointy bit of metal?

The combat in Gloria Victis is a big part of the game, so it makes sense that the developers are taking their time to balance it just right. The most recent patch adjusts the damage and balance of several weapons while also introducing armor penetration to the game, making for a better overall combat experience. Unless you’re feeling very secure in chain armor when someone starts smacking you with a mace; that’s probably not improving your feelings about combat.

The patch also introduces several quality of life fixes for the game, including auto-closing doors in keeps and towns along with a more unified set of environmental interactions. There are also new NPC enemies to slay down toward the south, which is especially valuable for those who manage to claim the Lord’s Wrath Abbey. It’s all about quality of life, or in the case of weapons, quality of tools to end it.

Winterstone Leontes Thanks a lot, guys. Guess I’ll give it go rather sooner than later. ^^

Winterstone Leontes  I’d say that’s a pretty solid review.  Honestly, if you are looking for a game like this with not quite full loot open PvP and a solid amount of PvE, it is the one I would suggest looking at.  It has a lot of cool ideas, and is certainly an option for people looking for something different than the standard MMO setup.
There are, of course, some things I like better in GV as compared to other games that are coming up… and some things I like less than in those other games.  I think GV will do fairly well with what they have, especially if people are willing to look at the PvE side of things as worthwhile despite the PvP aspects.  *I think it would do much better here if it was less lenient on constant PvP attacks like certain other games coming out are… because I honestly believe there is less punishment for people trying to do other stuff in Life is Feudal than in GV specifically because constant attacks in LiF will result in massive headaches for the person doing it.*
My advice is to remember that GV still needs a lot of polish on certain things, should anyone give it a try.  That, and to remember that the ganking stuff is slowly being attacked by these developers… so don’t give up on the genre just because some people are jerks!

Leontes Sure! I’ve been a backer since 2012. I’ve played along side development for quite a long time and seen amazing amount of changes. One of the coolest things about GV and the team is that they have followed up with every promise they have made. Its been a slow process but the improvements are amazing. Its in Unity 5 so its here to stay and will continue being improve. With that said:

Gameplay can be a little buggy. Things like AI, NPC’s, Building collision and crafting all need work. Some of the animations are not very nice, like jumping. First person camera which is new last year is actively being improved. The combat is fun and is refreshing since it uses a realistic fatigue system. The bigger the weapon, the slower few attacks. The heavier the armor, the slower the movement. None of these feel out of place. The world is atmospheric and beautiful despite using some familiar Unity Store assets. Crafting is complex and in the process of being improve. Its a multistep system that involves gathering and crafting many items to craft a single weapon. Crafting yields the best weapons, armor and it takes time.

There is much I haven’t done like the building, fortifying or Events so I can’t mention those. Or the pvp Arena. TO be honest there is a lot to GV to like. If you like realism and authentic medieval settings its worth the 12$ to buy into.

I can’t answer but I’m in the same boat. Keep debating about it

This game catches my interest rather often lately… I’m trying to decide whether I should check it out already.

This one has probably been asked a lot, bould would anyone be so kind as to provide some insight, how Gloria Victis works out for you? Any experience?
