The Daily Grind: Does your guild or family govern which MMORPGs you play?

We were the kings and queens of promise.

A few podcasts ago, I lamented that my time in Black Desert would probably be brief, at least for now, because my guildies weren’t playing. While we’re a pretty loose circle of MMO veterans nowadays and the guild doesn’t directly dictate my play, my guildies’ showing up en masse can often be the deciding factor as to whether I stick around (or buy a game in the first place). And if they show zero interest in a game, my interest tanks, especially when they are playing something else entirely. That’s exactly what caused a big Diablo III resurgence for us at the beginning of the season, and it’s part of what’s propelling my interest in Guild Wars 2 again now. It’s not that I never play MMOs alone, but damn, snagging playtime with friends is rare enough that when it presents itself, I take it!

How about you guys? Does your guild, friends, or families govern which MMORPGs you play?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
