EverQuest II sends its members on a tricky treasure hunt

Feeling the itch to open some treasure chests and help yourself to some shiny booty? Not so fast there, EverQuest II player! You’ve got a few hurdles to jump first.

The first obstacle to overcome is to subscribe to EverQuest II because if you’re not subscribed, then you don’t get any of next week’s GU 100 content — and that includes the new Zek treasure hunts. The second hurdle is engaging in timed solo and heroic hunts.

Once done, you’ll get your treasure, right? Not in the slightest. No, you’ll get a dirty key that can be cleaned to see if it’s by chance a valuable key. And those valuable keys are worthless without locks to open, so you’ll have to head right back out into the zone to find a treasure chest to unlock. Then, and only then, can you indulge your inner Scrooge McDuck and have a swim in all of those gold coins and other assorted loot.
