Elite: Dangerous expounds on engineers and ship modifications

The latest edition of Elite: Dangerous’ newsletter is out, and it shines a spotlight on the engineers. A special type of NPC, the engineers are a group of people on the outskirts of society that are known for coming up with weird yet often useful modifications that players may want for upgrading their equipment. To gain access to these nifty gadgets, players will have to earn the trust and respect of each one they want to do business with. Of course, even working with same engineer does not guarantee the same results; results will vary for each attempt. For a walk through of engineer crafting, complete with UI visuals, fly on over to the official site.

I was thinking that perhaps you ought to tell us.
After all, you’re the one that’s obsessed about it and usually it’s the obsessed person who knows everything about their obsession.
It would be very strange to be obsessed about something and remain ignorant about it at the same time, wouldn’t you agree?

BalsBigBrother Cotic_OP Yeeeah. When I read the newsletter, that’s kind of what I was thinking too. The mods look cool though, and I’m looking forward to seeing PVP get completely shaken up. Kinda tired of fighting stealth builds all the time.

Has their combating logging fix been successful?

Personally I haven’t done a lot of harvesting but 15 micro resources for an upgrade doesn’t seem too bad, although if you have a flotilla of ships and you want to customise each and every one, then yeah, it’s going to get time consuming rather quickly.
Will be interesting to try it out next week.

Cotic_OP “providing they keep the costs reasonable”
Haha good one ;-) I love E:D as much as anyone but this will be a credit sink and they are going to make you grind till your eyeballs bleed.

I like the variety and individuality this offers when fitting out ships. It’s nice to see that they’re not just focused on combat either, tuning drives and altering cargo holds etc, possibly every module will be pretty cool.
The hunt for good stats and good secondary effects will be pretty addicitive providing they keep the cost reasonable.
