Star Wars: The Old Republic game update 4.4 brings Eternal Championship, weapon customization, and more

Ladies, gents, and Wookiees, make sure you have your bowcaster strapped securely, for Star Wars: The Old Republic is embarking on Game Update 4.4 tomorrow.

The update brings a new chapter to the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion story. Chapter 13: Profit and Plunder puts the focus on the companions Vette and Gault who are staging a heist to end all heists. When you get finished with that, you can try your hand at the Eternal Championship, a PvE arena that pits you against the galaxy’s toughest foes.

Reportedly, 4.4 contains the new weapon effect customization system, although mention of this is strangely absent from the patch notes. BioWare is reactivating the Bounty Contract Week and Relics of the Gree event today as well.

You can log in this week to get your free astromech droid pet and enjoy a few other promotions for “May the Fourth Be With You” celebration.

I’m one of the people experience experiencing the patching glitch (error 308).
None of my research, or my usual tech-voodoo solutions, appear to be helping, either.

Glad you had fun, though! :-)

Well, just finished the story.  Very fun!

The Eternal Championship… so many references to KOTOR.  Delightful.

I’m happy you admit the lack of play for two years.
Time for some confession time for the rest of you.

KOFTE story has been really mediocre so far. Chapter 12 I really didn`t dig with the philosophical talk about the force that basically says nothing concrete other than “be above dark and light”.

Chapter 13 looks kind of fun though.

CrispyCycil JoshuaCreech Last time I checked, Juggernaut DPS was basically unstoppable.

The long-awaited reunion of my Warrior and Vette?  Oh, this will be glorious.  All we need now is Mako back in the fold and my SWTOR life will be complete.

JoshuaCreech CrispyCycil And the force tanks get absolutely gimped in regards to roots and snares, force charge doesn’t mean dick if that root or snare is still there/gets refreshed.  As where the ranged tanks get root/snare invulnerability ability, despite them not needing it as much as the melee oriented tanks do.
This is a guy who hasn’t played since 2014 btw, so feel free to correct me on this mis-justice.

Hirku I understand your point of view and frustration with the xp boost, but you have to understand that this game is not really what you would call new any more. Unfortunately at this point the dev’s focus is not on providing new players with incentives to join the game but rather to provide veterans an accelerated path to level up their alts towards endgame. Such is the way with most games that have been on the market for some time.

I really enjoyed Chapter 12.  At first I didn’t think I would and waited about a week before even bothering to log in.  But it really was quite good once I got into it.  My Jedi Sentinel has been 100% light side but that Valkorion has been an Insistent whisper in his ear…

So I’m looking forward to this installment when I get home from work!  yay!!
