The Secret World assembles a new game trailer

It does appear that Funcom is making a big marketing push with The Secret World lately. Last week the studio activated an ongoing 10-day trial, tomorrow The Park launches on consoles, and in a couple of weeks Issue 15 for TSW should be arriving. Now you can add a new game trailer to the mix and call it a party.

The minute-and-a-half trailer isn’t going to blow any conspiracies wide open but instead sells the game’s feature points to those who might not be familiar with the shadows and secrets of The Secret World. Even though the video doesn’t contain anything new, the fact that it was made is an indication that the studio is trying hard to expand its playerbase. Check it out below.

Rebel Engie SeedEve Syco_at_Twitch It’s really, Really not that bad. The animations, I’ll give that to you. they’re awful. the combat itself is fine. Once you have a working build for questing it plays lovely.

exeeter ESO’s combat is the worst of the lot. We want to talk about bland abilities, and bland combat, look no further than ESO.

With all due respect, comparing it eso is down right insulting.
First of all, it has nothing to do with the quantity of active abilities or being action oriented vs tab target etc. It has everything to do with how the basic flow of abilities work in unison. There is very VERY little in terms of dynamism and veriety it your combat options from an execution stand point. Build build build, spend, build build spend, pop heal or cd when needed, look for passive procs. That’s it in a nut shell.
Under the hood the system is great, there suggests a deep and open system to theory craft and what not but the reality is that there is very little flexibility when you start to learn what works and what doesnt.
The aux we pons and aegis system tried to add depth to the system but ended up feeling arbitrary and / or non impactfull.
And as far as animations are concerned, tsw tbh is really at the bottom of the barrel man. I remember specifically right at the beta of the game saying to myself “wtf man, where are the great human animations that AoC had?” It’s like from the torso up, it’s aN entirely seperate animation, it looks downright ridiculous.
One thing that is often overlooked in mmos when talking about combat and how it feels is in how the game succeeds (or does not) in giving good feedback in combat. Things like really “feeling” when attacks connect and crit etc. It’s difficult to explain, but tsw has this weightless feel to it where attacks and abilities just seem to glaze over targets as you see the numbers pop, aside from the crit text poping out, it’s just feels very loose, couple thst with the innate spammy-ness of the game and you have an mmo that really has to rely on its other strengths for payers to turn a blind eye to its combat.
I love the game personally but to try and say the combat isn’t clunky or lacking in execution shows that you in fact are incapable of looking at it objectively.

As others have said, I hope this brings in more players. TSW is truly unique and has some of the most memorable environments and stories of any MMO.

I hope it brings in more players. It is a really underrated MMO. Its my main MMO…it has a great story, locations, and pretty good community overall.

Syco_at_Twitch DrowNoble Rebel Engie I wouldn’t say clunky, it is very spammy.
I love everything about the game apart from spamming the same skils of a chosen skillset over and over and over and over again. I still hear the back and forth sword swooshing in my sleep.

You heal with Rifles not Shotguns. And you are healing with a percentage of the damage you do. A part of the damage is applied as a heal to your defensive target.Think Shadowknight draining mechanic. There is a lot of this type of healing in games. But they are not modern day themed, so no rifles.

One of the best MMOs on the market.  I’d even go as far as to say it’s the only MMO worth your time, unless you’re really into Blizzard’s stuff.
