Also, more cats in general, please.

This eastern sandbox import has many people playing and talking about it, but are they listening to Black Desert Online? The Battle Bards are, naturally, and in this conversation-packed episode, they charge through this fantasy soundtrack to glean the best and discard the rest!

Battle Bards is a bi-weekly podcast that alternates between examining a single MMO’s soundtrack and exploring music tracks revolving around a theme. MOP’s Justin Olivetti co-hosts with bloggers Steff and Syl. The cast is available on iTunes, Stitcher, and Player.FM.

We’ve got Episode 74: Black Desert Online for you after the break!

melissaheather  funny – while I like most of the music in the game I find the horse riding tune very annoying

Main Theme, Best Theme. Hooked me right in. Also whaddya mean ‘not really hummable’?! Pfft, I was humming it right off.

But overall, I figured that the style of soundtrack fits the style of game. The story/lore/general setting doesn’t have a strong and unique personality of its own (to refer to a recent MOP article on games and their personalities), and the soundtrack is good but doesn’t have a strong, unique personality of its own either.

I’ve put a lot of hours into the game.  But 90% of it the Music has been turned off.

I find it to be shadows of good music, but mostly just a mess and distracting.

The first time you get on a horse around Velia and you hear that Spanish guitar start strumming and the hide drums start thumping, you kinda feel the wind in your hair, and falcons at your breast to go with this fleet horse.
Very excellent music in BDO.  The whole bloody game is first-class.  I’m so glad someone finally published a hit that’s worthy.  Seems like a dry last 2-3 years for MMOs.

Heh I was just thinking to myself that the thing I like best about BDO in my dabbling so far (got a week free code) is the soundtrack. What I’ve heard of it so far is pretty damn good.

I wish that the ride music would play for wagons as well as conventional mounts.
