Saga of Lucimia explores the depths of darkness

This is not a perfectly black screenshot, we promise.

Vision is something we sort of take for granted when it comes to video games. We assume that if we can’t see something, there’s a reason for it. Saga of Lucimia does indeed have a reason for hiding things from you, and that reason is that it’s very, very dark outside while you don’t have a torch of any sort. Yes, the latest video about the game is all about darkness and its effects, and that involves a fair bit of things that you just can’t see.

The video shows off the game’s lighting while discussing the mechanics of illumination. Players won’t be able to use torches in battle, but the darkness will still be there, meaning that players will need to have someone in the group holding a lantern or torch so that you can see what’s going on. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the difference between being able to see what you’re fighting and not. Check out the whole video just below.

TWAnderson Mortal Online does night quite realistically. But I haven’t seen that again until your game. Good feature.

I LOVE this shit. I loved going through the super suuuper dark duskwood of early vanilla wow, i remember keeping a torch in my pallys off hand and it was so atmospheric. I was bummed when they made it super bright and all the more so when i heard in very early development they planned something quite similar to this for a few zones and places in wow.

Maybe its the Monster Hunter player in me that loves going out with an inventory full of tools but i love ideas like this where you have to react to the world, its not a static lobby from coast to coast you can always get around easy.

I know some of its nostalgia but my favourite early WoW memory was being a babby lvl.12 dwarf pally exploring and getting lost in duskwood and in the middle of a cemetery i found two mages and a priest by a campfire lighting up the dark and they offered to port me to SW but then stitches showed up and i ended up with his femur that was an actual upgrade at the time.

Because nothing says adventure like running into monsters in the dark with random people, Tolkein knew with the mines of Moria :p

Francis courant Jaydc5 Lethality Not necessarily ; you can swing a sword, but you can’t swing a torch or lantern. You’ll shatter the latter and snuff out the former. And if you opt to put a torch in your hand instead of a shield to lead your party, you’re gonna have to ditch the torch to pull out your shield if you find yourself in a combat scenario.
