Now the game is going back to its roots with its third expansion, Agents of Yesterday. Back the original series, back to the oldest timeline, back to the days when the Constitution-class USS Enterprise was the most advanced ship in the stars.
Agents of Yesterday will allow players to make a new captain in the era of the original series, with five new ships appropriate to the time of Kirk and Spock and new adventures to be had among the familiar locations from those old episodes. Walter Koenig will reprise his role as Pavel Chekov, while Chris Doohan, son of James Doohan, will take on the role of Montgomery “Scotty” Scott. It’s a step back into the beginning of the franchise, a chance to celebrate the past while looking to the future. The expansion is slated for launch this summer; you can buy a nice big pack of items to go along with it, if you want..

Oh, Lord, Yes! Turn off the in-game Zone Chat! Your game will instantly become twenty times more fun, when you’re no longer constantly bombarded by that torrent of textual excrement.
We can even tell you how to turn it off, if you don’t already know.
castagere shaikura you just have to find a good chat channel and turn that poison Zone chat off. We true trekkies are still around we just don’t mingle with the Cretons anymore :P
Hirku Just play the ‘Coliseum’ mission for all your TOS fight music needs.
Huh, it looks like fun. I stopped playing awhile ago, but I’ll come back to give this a try.
JayPower and the feds got the better end of the deal anyhow given how fiddly rom ships were and how unbalanced some missions were at launch.
As neat as this sounds, it just reinforces why I drifted away from STO: the constant combat of an MMO wrapped around an IP that was about diplomacy and discovery. On the bright side, maybe they’ll be able to include all that great/cheesy fight music from TOS.
This may be the expansion I’ve been waiting for! I’ve had a lot of fun with STO over the years, but this will feel like going back home!
ComradeStanimir I don’t understand this viewpoint. Star Trek Online has a vibrant community and has been a consistent success. At no point in the last several years could it be reasonably described as dead or dying.
Have to give this game credit. I wrote it off for dead years ago.
