Examining the skills and missions of Elder Scrolls Online’s Dark Brotherhood DLC

7

So let’s say you’re planning on joining the Dark Brotherhood once The Elder Scrolls Online’s next DLC launches. How, exactly, do you plan on going about your assassiny activities in a world where Dexter’s kill bag and clean room plastic wrap aren’t needed?

That’s the topic of today’s blog piece from ZeniMax. Once a player has embarked on the Voices in the Dark quest, she’ll be able to make use of the Dark Brotherhood’s skill line, which includes access to a stabby dagger, getaway skills, a fence, and reduced threat. Dark Brotherhood members will also be undertaking three types of quests:

  • Contract quests, the bread-and-butter contract killings the guild assigns;
  • Sacrament quests, which require players to bust into “subterranean locations to slaughter targets” and offer bonus objectives; and
  • Bounty quests, which are dailies for activities like delving and arenas and aren’t limited to the Brotherhood.

There’s a special mission just for guild members, too:

“The Litany of Blood is a special mission, passed on to you straight from the Listener herself. You must complete your first Sacrament Quest to unlock the Litany of Blood. Nevusa, a mysterious Dark Elf assassin begins the Litany of Blood quest—you can find her in the Gold Coast Sanctuary beside Speaker Terenus. She will give you the Litany of Blood book, which contains cryptic clues about each of your targets. Travel all across Tamriel to complete the Litany of Blood for a special achievement and polymorph reward.”

Robert80 Sorenthaz Bannex19 Ah okay.  I’ve barely paid attention to specific details, but I imagine there are big things planned for the second half of the year.  It’d kind of suck to start off the year strong with Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, two of the more hyped things to be added into the game, and then have nothing really grand or exciting for the second half.   Though they’ve got ~3-4 months before they need to get the first DLC out which means they’ll likely be revealing initial details for Q3’s DLC at E3 then I’m guessing Q4’s DLC will be announced at QuakeCon.

Sorenthaz Bannex19 Housing and spell crafting were items they said may not appear this year.  They did say they were still looking at both.

Bannex19 They did say they were planning to do Housing at some point.  Could very well be aimed at the second half of the year.

Ok after this pack there are plenty of combat options for players. Next packs should provide incremental fixes for pvp (because it needs a ton of work) and major noncombat additions (Housing, entertainer skill line, diplomacy?, personal stores for crafters…)
I like combat in games but the things that keep me coming back to an mmo is non combat longevity.
