After hinting about a new Secret World feature with the monster T-shirt contest and letting players speculate for a week, devs finally revealed their plans during the latest Streaming Ones episode. Called the Museum of the Occult, this new feature is an interesting mix of almost-housing and the long-ago mentioned bestiary. Basically, each player is given the task to repopulate the now empty museum that sits in London. The right to display creatures is earned through collecting lore, kill achievements, and exploration, and different levels of display pedestals allow for different poses. With these poses, players will be able to customize their personal museum space, then invite their friends to come on in and admire it!
The livestream also touched on the upcoming Fusang improvements that are expected to hit the test server next week. These include changing to one offensive and one defensive kill mission to pull people into battle in the facilities, adding dynamic events (like supply drops) as an incentive to run outside of the facilities, and new minigames to keep people engaged. Also introduced was the new elite vulnerability system, where weapon type will determine what type of debuff a player can add to the target that will benefit group members. All the juicy details are available in the full episode below.

Estranged mourasaint the horribly floaty controls, the lack of character weight, the esoteric combat, perplexing upgrade systems, unintuitive crafting, lack of responsiveness…
That specific enough for you?
mourasaint Estranged Be specific.  Since some people obviously find it worth playing, it is worth playing.
Estranged There’s absolutely nothing they can do to salvage its atrocious gameplay, short of scrapping the entire thing and starting over from the beginning.Â
Not even TSW’s stellar writing (and it is stellar) makes it worth playing.
Yay!!!
And now I’ve watched the stream segment on it, it seems like the next level of ‘trophy room’ or ‘hall of achivements’ which is actually pretty common in games. So small, baby steps and no it’s not completely unique or groundbreaking as a concept, it’s just an iteration that I haven’t quite seen before :p
Well, that’s an interesting take on things. Which is, after all, something FC does quite a bit! Given their incredibly limited resources I can see why they just don’t have the devpower right now for a proper housing system, so something player-customisable but that isn’t housing is a good middle ground to start with.
I hope it works out :)
mysecretid Nordavind A museum of weird, totally. A museum of weird run by me as a monument to  my accomplishments. Eh.
We party in shifts, to be sure someone is partying 24/7.
NordavindÂ
To be fair, the “village of Ealdwic” section of London we experience it in the The Secret World is not “normal” London at all — it’s practically a pocket dimension of weird. Listen to some of the things the NPCs talk about, Nord :-D
Also –> Templar HQ just down the road!
My point being, a museum of weird may be too much for the rest of London’s suspension of disbelief, but Ealdwic can handle it easily without bruising the canon or immersion, I suspect.
Cheers,
ddocentral aikatears Cabal housing was what their ideas were for back wen we discussed housing.
