One Shots: Post-murder spree bliss

When all of the enemy mobs lie defeated at your feet and you’ve rifled through their corpses for any valuables, there’s this precious slice of time of silence before all of the flies settle in (or respawns happen). That’s when players like Torquatos take a moment to enjoy the peace of victory.

“I took this while adventuring in one of the starter zones in Elder Scrolls Online,” he wrote. “One of many towns under attack by some insidious rebels, but it looks a touch more peaceful now that I killed them all.”

Charming!

Damonvile sent in one in response to a guild group shot challenge: “This one’s really old. We just downed Illidan in the Black Temple in World of Warcraft for the first time. At that point the score was probably around 3,485,632,948,570,295,709 to one, but that one is all I remember!

“I bet the upcoming Warcraft movie wont be anything like raiding in the actual game is. Somehow failing 5,000 times before finally winning doesn’t translate well into the plot for a movie.”

“I spent several hours in the Saga of Lucimia alpha test a few Saturdays ago,” submitted Paganrites. “A group of 20+ of us went and explored this new world. On our adventure we encountered a dragon, spiders, and misunderstood ogres. Best of all was a multi-level dungeon. At one point we actually got lost!

“It’s refreshing to see an MMORPG with actual, non-quest driven exploration with exciting new things to discover!”

“I’m sure you’re being inundated with Black Desert shots at the moment, but I’m afraid I must add another entry to the flood,” wrote Tyler. “I had a different reason for wanting to try Black Desert than most (my thanks to the Massively team for the key). The game holds little appeal, but I sought to use its character creator to recreate characters from my writing. Being a very visual person, this is a real thrill for me.

“The character in this shot is Leha, sometimes called the Hero of Heart. I’ve written three full length novels and a couple of short stories about her. Note the blue pupils — can’t explain why she has those without spoiling my own work, though.”

I always love it when readers take up my wacky screenshot challenges. Frank answered the call for pictures of explosions, sending this one in from Final Fantasy XIV.

“Even beasts from other worlds are no match for the might of Eorzea’s finest magics,” he said.

Let’s get a little macabre with this week’s screenshot challenge. I want you to submit pictures of burial places in MMORPGs: graveyards, cairns, tombs, and crypts. What do you have for us?

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
