RIFT offers a quick guide to making the most of minions

A game that never met a WoW mechanic it didn't want to copy.
Are you making the most of your minions in RIFT? You really should. Minions are a lightweight way to get a little more out of the game on an account level, and all you really need to be capable of handling is some bookkeeping. The developers have assembled a quick guide to getting involved with the Minion system so that everyone can benefit from these loyal companions.

Minions can be earned via quests, achievements, drops, artifact collections, and so forth, or just flat-out bought in the RIFT store. Each minion has certain attributes and abilities, with rarer and more valuable Minions having more than the standard two attributes or various other beneficial traits. They’re also shared account-wide, allowing all of your characters to reap the benefit and take part in management; higher-level characters just derive a bit more from gathering missions you can send them on. Check out the full walkthrough if you’re eager to send your diligent followers out on their own adventures.

MilitiaMasterV SwobyJ Another shard? Or max on all shards?(wow) I think they may be (regional) account-wide unlocks, not shard-wide. Can’t help with the boredom part though.

SwobyJ Too bad I have no character slots left on Rift. I leveled all of them to max and then got bored and left. Like I said, would’ve been great when I was on there.

fahadjafar Sorenthaz Midgetsnowman Oh I’ve seen what you get as a patron.  It’s still nothing in comparison to what you can get in other games, with stipends being icing on the cake.   Not to mention a chunk of the things patron gives now is due to Trion removing those things from free players over time.
But you clearly sound like the type of customer Trion aims for, so more power to you for encouraging them to keep up with their system.

MilitiaMasterV Leveling an alt through all story content and prioritizing wardrobe rewards = dozens and dozens of unlocks account-wide.

adecoy95 fahadjafar Its not true. And in fact, a minion I know of that has all attributes, can be gotten completely freely.

JustDavid Yeah to be fair to Trion, one can enjoy the game at $0 a month, enjoy it more at ~$15 a month, but actually get a regular pace of anything they want, through a mix of regular (not super grindy, but regular) play and ~$25 a month. So a sub game *for the most part* becomes a ‘varied expenses’ game. As long as you can avoid impulse buying (like lockboxes, shiny interesting things). You can play a month where you casually play, a month where you play regularly enough to patron, and a month where you play a lot and find it worthy to ‘upgrade’ that experience with Credits. For my grievances, I’ve been effectively playing fully free (except my Loyalty and stuff bought pre-NT) for a while and generally liking it.

fahadjafar Sorenthaz Midgetsnowman And look at what you no longer get as a non-patron. So enticing. /s

Glad they waited till after I quit to put in these features. Though I did hop on for a very short bit awhile ago and saw their revamped wardrobe feature…that would’ve been really handy when I was playing/paying.

Sorenthaz Midgetsnowman I have played most of the games that give monthly stipend and all players do is wait at least a year to get enough cash shop currency to buy that special costume or mount they have been eyeing for 2 years!! Nonsense system, Rift’s system is far better in my opinion and that menial discount you are complaining about, it covers up way more than you can imagine if you decided to spend money for mounts or something. And cash shop discount is not the only thing that patron status gives. I think you guys should stop complaining about stipend and look clearly what you are getting as patron.
