Blade & Soul introduces pets with its next major update

Yes, this is a thing.

Do you want a cute pet to follow you around in Blade & Soul? Good news, then, because you can have exactly that with the game’s next major update arriving on June 1st. But these pets aren’t just your ordinary non-combat pets, as having your pet out and upgraded provides you with a set of defensive bonuses. Pets can be used by level 50 characters and come in both Superior and Epic varieties, with the Epic sort allowing you to upgrade the pet and receive defensive buffs.

How do you get a pet? Well, you head down to your local shelter, and… no, that’s a lie; it’s the cash shop. Or randomly rewarded from Heroic dungeons, one or the other. You’ll need to make sure that your pet is well-fed, to boot; hungry pets wander off and (more importantly) don’t give you that sweet defense boost. Check out the details on the buffs provided and the feeding system on the official preview.

MetaDune ihatevnecks blaaznar Key phrase you clearly missed: “Yes, and putting on that costume and doing the world pvp dailies is (or was at launch)”
Note how Silverfrost wasn’t added until 3 months after launch? And how the OP, based on his question, clearly hasn’t played in a while – otherwise he wouldn’t be asking if they’d ‘fixed’ something yet?

ihatevnecks MetaDune blaaznar What are you talking about? Shiverstone area dailies gives you 4-5 gold with a lot of experience and mats. Doing purples easily nets you 8 gold. Getting the box daily for doing 4 out of 5 objectives gives you a chance of 1, 10, 100, or 1000 gold which most times rewards you with 1 or 10 gold bars.

Doing the purples will give you stingers that sells for 2g each.

The bidding system is great, everyone besides the person won gets the gold. The event mushroom sometimes bids goes up to 1 gold and it’s divided between the party members

MetaDune blaaznar Yes, and putting on that costume and doing the world pvp dailies is (or was at launch) one of the few ways to reliably make gold, which you needed to get anywhere in game – including even getting loot from dungeons, due to the moronic bidding system.

blaaznar what world pvp? You’ll only be in pvp if you put on your pvp costume

blaaznar  Well, I suppose it depends on the balance on your server.  If the factions are balanced SSP is an interesting world PvP area.  If not… well it is a boon for the majority and the minority gets screwed.

Meh.  Ok, that’s fine.  But the update for me is really not about the pets at all.  It introduces a new dungeon and is the final chapter of the current story.  The final showdown with Jinsoyun is at hand and it should be one hell of a fight.

Oh… and with this update they are changing the weapon upgrade path and retiring Pirate.  That is a huge deal for those who have not upgraded their weapons to Pirate.  It will be a source of some pain and much consternation.  And for many if the new upgrade path isn’t easier, I’m afraid it might mean the end of their time playing the game.

IMO, pets are a side note to some interesting content drops and significant changes to progression.

This should be interesting.

Adorable! I’ve got to get my leveling plans in gear for B&S so I can equip a pet (y’know, in addition to my cat). However, it sounds a bit gruesome to either salvage a pet or use use the low quality ones as material sources for evolving high quality pets. :<

Shamancard  NO. BnS arenas have nothing like costumes with stats or other shits. Arenas pvp are skilled, havent any pay2win feature like Black Desert as you said. Also pet can be purchased by dungeon, is not only exclusive for donators/visa kids.
