Project Gorgon’s new patch buffs guilds and pigs

Project Gorgon has been graced with a huge patch this week, the star of which is probably a massive overhaul of guilds. “Guilds can now undertake quests — communal tasks where everybody in the guild can chip in,” writes ElderGame. “Completing guild quests earns Guild XP which ultimately raises your guild’s level [and] earns each member who logged in during the quest some Guild Credits.”

Players can also expect camera and mouse adjustments, major bug fixes for clairvoyant monsters, the new Ilmari Desert dungeon area, a new player work orders system to help crafters order ingredients, and animal-handling changes, plus Pig Changes, easily my favorite patch note of all.

“Pig is now a support skill that shines in groups. In many ways the pig feels like an ‘animal bard’, filling in whatever is missing from the group (except tank). In small groups the pig can be a healer/damager with emergency crowd control; in larger groups the pig’s unique buffs become quite potent. The pig has only mediocre damage capabilities – enough to solo, but nothing to brag about – but it is pretty sturdy and can be hard to kill, especially given its penchant for deflecting aggro onto the group’s tank.”

Critically, the rewritten Mudbath skill is now “tagged as a major heal.” Also “Sustaining Snack has been replaced with Grunt of Abeyance, a small group heal.” This game, you guys.

wjowski  Office politics, man.
Working with investors is a huge time sink, and what they think will alter everything. Not having clear management hierarchy allows chaos to ensue with out limit. Ego clashes and popularity contests are the plague of every community, even more so when it is a corporate community with money on the line.
Adding more people to a project always makes the communication much greater. The effect of this is laid out in Fred Brooks “Mythical Man Month”, a computer science management classic. Small tight teams are more efficient than large sprawling ones, always will be. The limitation on small teams is one of expertise, as it is nearly impossible for one person to be great at everything, so a balance must be struck.

So, yea, one guy really can just plod along, getting things done by the by, which is a fat load of work, but it does get done.

ProfessionalNoob Sorenthaz It’s more that when I resume I have no idea where I’ll have left off or how much I have left to do on there, lol.

It’s fascinating seeing how PG keeps puttering along with little money and less manpower while other ‘sandpark’ MMOs with significantly more money and and hands invested in them can’t seem to keep up.

Sorenthaz You can go back to Anagoge (Newbie island) later. Costs a bit but you can.

I need to hop back onto it.  I wanted to do everything on the tutorial island before leaving though.  :(

For an old-skool EQer like me, I found Project Gorgon to be immediately satisfying. Loving every minute of it!
